Download Server Updated

The download server was updated as part of some schedule maintenance today. This was a significant undertaking and many hundreds of files were updated - including all the iOS files in both the core project and every single plugin package. Things you should know: --If you're NOT self hosting. You should not "need" to do anything if you don't want to. But, if you want to compile your app(s) for iOS 6.0 you could re-download your app(s) and compile using the latest version of Xcode. This is 4.6 with the iOS6 SDK. Be sure to test test test before submitting any updates to Apple. --If you ARE self hosted. You WILL NEED TO UPDATE ALL THE PLUGINS ON YOUR SELF HOSTED SERVER. If you're running the latest version of the self hosted package (2.1.8) it's a matter of using the Update link for each plugin in your control panel. This is found in Admin > Plugins. This process should not take long. If you're running an older version of the self hosted package (you really should get the latest release) you'll need to download each .zip and upload it to your server. --If you're a plugin developer. Be sure to download the latest package (as found in the Plugin Market) so you're sure you have the latest version of your plugin. We may have made changes to your package(s) to accomodate for iOS 6 without you knowing. We could have asked you to do it but figured it was easier / faster this way. --Android. A bunch of code-fixes where found and made in the core Android project but mostly it's the same project. Nothing too exciting but worth doing. We'll be asking everyone to start compiling with Google 3.0 libraries (as compared to 2.2 libraries we use today) in the very near future. For now, not enough has changed in the Android core project, or the plugins, to warrant anything on your end. --As you can well expect, there may be some lingering issues discovered over the next few days. This is normal when hundreds of things are updated. We'll work hard to work them out on an as-needed basis. We have compiled the iOS and Android Core project files over and over again on lots of different machines so we don't expect any trouble there. But, Plugin developers and end users may discover things we did not. We updated every single plugin (and compiled them all to make sure we found no warnings and no errors) but ya' never know in this business :-)

@AussieRyan: I think there was an older version of the menu with image plugin laying around. I'll bet you installed it in the early days of the plugin market. 1) Remove the menu with image plugin from your backend. 2) Re-install the latest version. All will be well.

Hey David regarding the menu with image plugin, the problem is , it cant be removed as long as it is an active screen in an app. As I for example have +10 apps using this, I cant just delete the plugin. Any way around this except from manually overwriting the plugin with the newest version? Same happens with these plugins: - blogpro - Timer - Thumb viewer Error Message: Error! Error un-zipping archive (1) Would be nice if these plugins could take advantage of the "automatic" plugin upgrade feature too.

I downloaded the Menu with image plugin zip file from the BT main site, then uploaded it with the Upload Plugin Package option, with the Update Existing Plugin checked. It worked flawlessly since then, within these couple of hours that I have been testing a new app with it.

262 yellow, 22 red errors. Only with the bt_screen plugins. All updated, newest server version, new downloaded source code. Mainly semantic errors. First red error: Unknown type name 'BT_rotatingNavController'; did you mean 'BT_tabBarController'? Anybody actually tested this, or just thankings in advance? Help is appreciated :-)

Worked pretty flawlessly. I did have a problem with the plugin updates. I was at Admin>Manage Plugins trying to "check for updates." I was getting "error 3 error" Until I clicked on the Plugin Maintenance (Add, Remove, Refresh) link on the left above the list of plugins. From there click on the "Download Plugins form your buzztouch.com Control Panel" >then click the download button. From there I could update all the plugins. Worked great! Thank you!

Hi guys, first thk to all the buzztouch staff for the efforts.. Second, unfortunately we don't fix the problems with our apps. For the first App, the buzztouch have fixed all the 108 bugs that we had once we opened the app with xcode but when we run the app on simulator this is the error on simulator (http://www.buzzmkt.it/bug.png) We try also to create a new app, download it and run but the simulator just runs a white screen Have you any solutions for us? Thank you

@Bodacious; Try downloading and reinstalling your BT 2.1.8 server. The issues you have were fixed in the second release around mid-february. Save a copy of your config.php file, and just overwrite everything but your files directory, and then replace your original config.php file, and you should be good. Cheers! -- Smug

I've had the same problem with the error! error! (3). I have tried trailman's solution, but when i went to download it said: "Invalid API Credentials (6)" I think I made an error editing my config.php file when I updated to 2.1.8 an hour ago... I copied the API URL and key straight from here, but left the secret blank (what is the secret?) I made the account username and password the things I use for logging on here.. Anyone know what i did wrong?

It's worth noting that even if you aren't self-hosted, it seems like you will inevitably have to re-download all of your packages. I just tried to download the updated IAP plugin and drag it right into my project, and I've been hit with a ton of errors because my project doesn't recognize the new "theMessage" debugger format

With the update. I am only working with Android apps for now and see that there wasn't much change, but was recommended to upgrade to 3.0. Is there a way to tell if the upgrade of the source code was successful?

I seem to have noticed that some of these issues are not server related - they seem to be related to the browser. I have a hunch David only uses a Mac and probably tests with the latest version of Safari. I just upgraded a box to the latest ML and the Safari on there can update plug-in and download the source code as expected. But my box with Snow Leopard can't download source code, it traps php errors and none of my windows boxes work either to update plug-ins or download source code. Usually using the latest Chrome on there boxes. But the latest, greatest Safari in ML - no Issues. Plug-in wise, I'm curious if there will be any official instructions from BT on what we need to update. I have a ton of custom code to port over and I don't see any changes in the Android source code. The iOS looks like it's just changing "showit" to " themessage" in regards to the BT debugger. Hopefully this is all we need to change?

So, I just noticed something that David wrote in the original post: "We'll be asking everyone to start compiling with Google 3.0 libraries (as compared to 2.2 libraries we use today) in the very near future." Notice the "in the very near future" part of this statement. Tonight I downloaded new source code for a projecting, thinking Google API 11 (Android 3.0) was required, but when I looked in my AndroidManifest.xml file, I saw that it was still saying a minimum SDK of Google API 8 is required. That made me come back here, where I reread the original post. Why does this matter? Well, lots of people have been trying to compile with Google API 11, and running into issues with the emulator. The cool thing is, for the moment, you can continue on as you've always been doing, using the old emulator! That's good news, because the API 11 emulator has a bug in it that's been around for almost a couple of years now (the orientation issue), and doesn't look like it'll ever be fixed. So, download new Android source code to pick up some fixes that David talked about, but feel free to compile as normal. Nothing, yet, is requiring you to use Google API 11 (unless I've misread things again!). Mark

Thanks Mark, that is what I was wondering if there there was anywhere it would say that it was already updated, ie. in the manifest that you stated. I have been trying to run it on the new API and have been having problems. I will go back to using the old API. Thanks for looking into it and clarifying the issue. Howard

i downloaded and installed the new update and updated my plugins. i still receive multiple errors after downloading my projects. I am working on a plugin myself and didnt stop to think that whenever i download plugins from buzztouch control panel that im making a request to the API! When I Hit update plugin from within my admin control panel the status says loading but never confims the update successfull! So i decided after 20 or more API requests and still receiving the same errors in my downloaded projects to just reinstall the server software wich still gives me the same outcome, any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am at 96 API requests already and need to continue working on my plugin to submitt for review. P.s can we purchase more API requests if needed?

@COOKUP: And others interested. --API Requests: API requests that are not related to "Download the Source Code" or an app do not count against any limits. In fact, we've been very light hearted in our enforcement of the 100 / mo limit until we do a better job at showing more details stats about this in your control panels. The "count" you see today is an overall count of how many times you've pinged the API and doesn't necessarily means how many times you've "downloaded source code." Regarding purchasing more...in 99% of cases this isn't necessary. If you think you're packaging and downloading apps in high volume send us an email and we'll figure out a plan for you. --Update plugin button: The Admin > Plugins screen allows you to update a plugin using the "update" button. This is intended to make it easier than download the .zip and re-uploading it each time a plugin changes. It's turning out that in some cases this isn't working as designed. In each of these cases the trouble is "hard to diagnose" because the person running the self hosted package doesn't understand what's happening or why it's not working. It's complex stuff (and simple at the same time if you understand .php deeply). It's hard for us to diagnose, debug a self hosted install but can try to help on a case-by-case basis. If you're having trouble with the "update plugin" routine in your self hosted panel, and think we can help, send me an email to david @ buzztouch.com and we'll go from there. Lastly: We've found and heard about all sorts of issues with 2.1.8 that are addressed in 2.1.9. Most of them are strategic changes to support the every growing list of "hosting configurations" that our users are running into. Amazing how many different ways a LAMP stack can be configured!

Thanks Dave. Thought it might be useful for everyone having the problem to disclose who is their host... I'm on Hostgator. Tim

Thanks for the update. Good to hear a 2.1.9 patch is on the way to address some stuff. I'm still running a 2.1.8 server using a 2.1.6 config.php file. It seems those extra entries for the login, password, api hard coded into that config.php in 2.1.8 caused issue on a GODaddy host. Those same ones work fine on a BlueHost set-up and on my own LAMP server I'm running in house (as well as an XAMPP box).
