Great News!! Self Hosted Server

Hey Gang! Just got done talking with x10hosting.com They have now opened all the Ports required to send Apple's Push Notifications using the BT Self-Hosting Software. They have also opened these ports on their FREE account servers as well. From my use so far this is a great fit for someone looking to Self-Host. Cheers! ian

Hi, do you know if the ports need to be open both ways or just outbound? Thanks. Miguel

Excellent news! With your tip, I had made an account on that host a month ago. Now we wait for the release of the updated code. Thanks, Ian! -- Niraj

It's working great for me. On both paid account and Free account. Super easy to setup the Self Hosted software too:) I sent them these requirements as per @MrDavid's post GET YOUR PUSH NOTIFICATIONS WORKING: For APNs (Apple Push Notifications) traffic to get through, ask your host to confirm opening these following ports: 1. TCP port 5223 (used by devices to communicate to the APNs servers) 2. TCP port 2195 (used to send notifications to the APNs) 3. TCP port 2196 (used by the APNs feedback service) 4. TCP Port 443 (something mobile related I believe)

If I'm remembering correctly Port 443 is for https:// connections.

Just signed up! Looks pretty cool so far... I'm familiar with cPanel, so I'll put it though paces. May be a nice solution! Thanks! -William

I've signed up with the free service and I'll see if I can get a few basics installed and then try the BT-Server. I'll keep notes and let you all know if I have any particular issues. I've actually set up the BT-Server on my local MacBook before, so I'm thinking that if I can do that, I should be able to get it going on this host. I use Cyberduck for FTP. In the Mac app store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cyberduck/id409222199?mt=12&ls=1 Very native "Mac feel" interface. As I mentioned they're using cPanel and that typically has install packages for many web apps, and they have Joomla, Wordpress and a few others. They also have PhpMyAdmin, which is standard too. I'll keep you all posted!

Note: the forum rewrote FTP above to make it a link. Sentence should read: "I use Cyberduck for FTP"

Took me all of 5 minutes to install BT self-hosted on there. Let me know if you need help. This may be a good opportunity for a tutorial on setting up Self-Hosting

Hi Niraj. I had (still have) the free account. Pages load slow. (Could be my html) Had several brief down times last summer. Figured it was because of the FREE status. Anyway, registered a real .com domain name with Bluehost. They were recommended by several folks. I have not tried push on Bluehost yet.

I have both a paid account and free account and both appear to be loading pretty fast on my end. I don't think I can really tell the difference. Let us know how Bluehost works out with Push Notifications. Good to know cheer!

Has anyone tried with success sending push notifications with live apps? I've tried on xhosting (thanks Ian), works fine on design notifications but not on live. Miguel

I installed BT-server on the free x10hosting server I set up a couple of days ago. I followed the setup pdf guide and it was really easy. From start to finish it took maybe 20 minutes. This was the first time I have set up a Buzztouch server on a remote host (But I did do it locally 1 time before). It does help that the Install process has little checks that the software does along the way - a sign of the hard work put in by the Buzztouch development team. Kudos there! So now I get to dig in to self hosting! I'll work on a test app to check out the speed of x10, but it seems responsive so far. Thanks, William

Ok Live Push is working with x10hosting. I am successful with AdHoc Builds If you are certain you've created your Push Production certificate correctly (maybe redo just in case) make sure that in Xcode you have Code Signed your Release(AdHoc) in both the Targets & Project Build Settings. It was not working until I Code Signed both Targets & Project for Release (AdHoc in my case) Let me know how it goes! ian
