Here's my idea: (I'm focusing on iPhone here as it is my only experience) I would like to be able to plot the location of a particular iPhone in a public app. To do this I guess I would need: - An app on the target iPhone that updates it's location on regular intervals (2 min., 5 min). I guess the app could grab the lat-long and post the lat-long as json to a file server somewhere. - A plugin that is able to grab that json location file from the server and put it on a map. Seems simple, right? Are there any apps that post location online? I know of Firepin: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/firepin-4-trip-tracking/id394246963?mt=8 This allows you to post your location and trips online, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Glympse is another: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/glympse-share-location-friends/id330316698?mt=8 Can share trips as well. Sharing can be for a set period of time, say 5 minutes. Any existing app have an API to hook in to? Idead for use are: I live in a tourist area. There are several taxis (some are electric carts as their hook), pedicabs (bicycle rickshaw-like things), shuttle services. Would be great to know where they are and be able to text one for a pickup! "Where's my kid?" app - As a parent, they could run the app and I'd know where they are. Combine this with the Voucher plugin for privacy! "Where's my employee in the field" - Did they get on-site at the appropriate time? "Where's my car/boat/etc." Lots of ideas for use. Thoughts for creation? I'd like to know what you think! -William

Apple is pretty picky about apps that automatically update locations and stuff... you can't really 'send' anything without the users knowledge. 'As far as I know'. Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Smug, I'm not intending the device that is being located do it in any clandestine manner. It's whole purpose would to be to sent its coordinates so it could be tracked. That would be up front. -William
