I first used HawkHost, but then recently switch over to Hosting24, and I am very happy with them. Hope this helps, Raoul

I am switching everything over to HostGator right now. It is good so far. GoDaddy wouldn't open up the ports for APN for me.

VPS on HostGator, excellent support, it took them less than 10 minutes to open the ports for push notifications... I recommend them.

For hostgator you go to their site, click on the chat icon in the upper right corner, and wait to get connected. Usually it takes a couple of minutes. When you connect with their support, tell them exactly which ports you need to be opened. Here is the transcript of our conversation: ================================ (4:26 pm) [Andrew H.] Hello, welcome to Hostgator Live Chat my name is Andrew . I have read all of the information you have provided and would be more than happy to help you sort this out. (4:26 pm) [Dusko]: great! (4:27 pm) [Dusko]: I need both ports for APN and GCM, Aplle and Google (4:27 pm) [Dusko]: Apple (4:28 pm) [Andrew H.] Hello Dusko, I would not have the ports for those corporations. I would have the ports for our corporation though. Our port numbers are, SMTP:: 26 or 25 IMAP:: 143 POP3:: 110 (4:30 pm) [Dusko]: For Google, (4:30 pm) [Dusko]: The ports to open are: 5228, 5229, and 5230. GCM typically only uses 5228, but it sometimes uses 5229 and 5230. (4:31 pm) [Dusko]: For Apple (4:31 pm) [Dusko]: 5223, 2195, 2196 and 443 (4:32 pm) [Andrew H.] Okay (4:35 pm) [Andrew H.] Dusko, how may I help? (4:36 pm) [Dusko]: Well, can you open those port for traffic, so that my server on HostGator can send the data to Apple and Google (4:39 pm) [Andrew H.] Did you need that information incoming and outgoing or just outgoing? (4:41 pm) [Dusko]: Both for incoming and outgoing traffic (4:41 pm) [Andrew H.] Ah alright, just a moment (4:44 pm) [Andrew H.] Sorry for your wait, that is done and your firewall is restarted now (4:44 pm) [Dusko]: OK, many thanks for that! ================================ Hope this helps.

@SmugWimp, I wondered what package you are using on Network Solutions to be able to do self hosting? I called Network Solutions and spoke with tech support and they didnt have a clue regarding APN or GCM ports. He didn't know what they are or if they can be opened or if they are already open. It looks like HostMonster requires a VPS hosting account in order to open these ports. I'm just starting out and hope I dont need VPS nor do I want the expense. So, I'm curious how you have your self hosting set up on Network Solutions. Thanks! -sxywebgirl

I just have basic hosting... that said, I have about 12 domains under all that, and I have a special number to call and obtain service... however it shouldn't be much different with anyone else; just a slightly longer wait perhaps. Cheers! -- Smug
