Making my app offline

Hi guys, Complete newbie question. I have constructed a lovely app through buzztouch 2.0. I'm very happy with it minus one problem- I want the entire app to available offline i.e. useable without an internet connection after the initial download from the app store. Is this possible? The app is series of simple menus to "Custom HTML / Text" screens. I know the html are screens are the issue. The reason I want it offline is that it is an educational app designed for doctors in training. The places they may use the app, like in hospitals, there maybe no wifi connection if at all to cache the original document. I would really be grateful for any solutions or help at all. Many thanks in advance, Faisal

Hi Faisal, Well done on your app! It is most definitely possible to make an offline app. Here is a very instructive document by GoNorthWest about online vs offline: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Understanding_App_Refresh_and_Offline_Apps_v1.0.pdf Let us know if you can't find your answer there. Good luck. Farcat

Faisal, The best thing you could do is convert your custom HTML screens to "HTML Doc" screens. Then when you copy all the html docs in your project, it won't require any internet. -Stobe

Thanks Stobe and Farcat! From reading the document and reading around I think I will go with Stobe's advice and convert the screens to HTML Doc screens. I don't suppose there is a quick way to do this? If not I guess I will just go through every screen and manual copy the source html. But I'm sure it will be well worth the time! Thanks again guys, the buzztouch community is amazing!

Yup. Just copy and paste the source into new text documents and save them as html files. No shortcut for that.

Make sure all the images are locally placed. If they're not, then people who dont have internet, will find that the images wont load. As long as you've got nothing connected to the internet, you should be fine. Do make sure to read that PDF on the link above. It tells you what to do with easy steps.

Thanks for all the advice guys; I have updated the app (partly) and the updated pages work nicely in airplane mode. Hopefully in this journey through buzztouch and app creation I will be able help to others like you have done for me. In the meantime I'll have to stick to my day job... as a GP!
