Where did xcode go?

Where in the world does xcode download to? I've never owned a Mac before so I'm feeling a bit out of sorts. I downloaded the program last night but now I can't find it. I went to bed while it was downloading so I haven't installed or anything. I'm just not sure where to even look for it. Thanks for your help!

Have you tried clicking on finder and typing in'xcode'. The wee magnifying glass on the top right corner of your screen. By default it should have landed in your downloads folder. Which is the second to last folder icon in your doc. Then again, you may have been interrupted during the night and it died.

Or if you go to the Macintosh HD icon in the upper right corner. Double click it. Then double click applications folder. It should be in here. Drag it to the dock on the bottom of your screen and it will stay there for easy access later Dave

I just found the search on the top right and was able to locate and install. Thank you! :)

What is the dock? The thing beside the trash can on the bottom right? When I hold my cursor over it, it says Downloads. Is that it?

The dock is the entire bar of icons at the bottom. "Downloads" is one of the items on the dock. You can also get to Downloads by opening up a Finder window and navigating to the Downloads folder. The "downloads" icon on the Dock really just points to the folder. I've removed it from my dock altogether.
