If I’m using Custom URL to launch a you tube video, AND my devices have YOU TUBE installed on them, doesn’t the standard http://youtubeaddressblahlblah.com open the installed app to view the youtube video? In the simulator when placing the m.youtubeaddressblahblahvideoID i get it to launch it in safari, however, on my real device that has the google youtube app installed on it I get a banner at the top that says “open in youtube app”. I can’t get simulator to load a standard youtube.com address from the custom url plugin, however, it will launch the m.youtubeaddress—do you know if I’d be ok with just using the standard http:youtubeaddressblahblah for devices that do have the google you tube app installed? OR is the safest bet to load the m.youtbue link?

i'm launching it from a simple menu, so the simple menu part a list of videos i want the user to encounter, then when clicking on of their choosing it launches youtube - i don't want them to have to go to another page to click from there.

we're trying to get our employees to use our youtube channel-so that's not an option for me right now...the main question really is still will a regular youtube address launch the app if the google youtube app is on the device the user has. when i use a regular youtube address on my iphone it launches the app when i use a m.youtube address it launches safari with a message at the top that says "open in youtube?"

I just did a Custom URL Test. I put http://youtube.com in as the address and it worked, no problems. It did not ask to open the YouTube App. Have you tried putting the Video into a Custom URL screen? Jake

jake, did it launch in safari or the google youtube app? i am using custom url plugin....my issue is not that, it's about the simulator not showing what happens if i use a regular youtube address and not the mobile one... simulator simulates when the m.youtube address is given....BUT.... shows nothing when the regular http://youtube.com address is show. i have no way to simulate on a real device right now, only in xcode's simulator.

it's happening with about 48 videos right now, simulator shows it when the m.youtbe address is shown, but not when the regular youtube.com address is shown for instance - http://www.youtube.com/v/EHjl5A5V4uk vs. http://m.youtube.com/add_favorite?v=EHjl5A5V4uk

To resolve this issue: Find the Web Page (The one with the comments and related videos on the side) and enter this into the URL field. Jake
