Phone call from Apple regarding App Submission

Hi Guys, Thought you might use this info and take some tips from it. I submitted an app for review last week, I wanted to get the submission going and get it approved without making it available for download on the store. The reason was that I was pretty sure I had the core data done for the app and my client won't change much, if they did it would mean that I just had update via the control panel. I also thought this would leave a good impression on the customer that once they gave me the go ahead the app would be available in the app store within 24hrs. So my plan was to mark as not available in the app store till a certain date, for reasons as above. My first mistake was trying to submit an app to apple in the early hours of the morning whilst being very tired and in a rush. I did not take the time to look properly for the delayed go live option (2nd mistake), so I thought oh well, let me make it very expensive so no one buys it till I am ready to make it free, so I put it in at $999.99 (3rd Mistake). I got a call from Apple at 7am this morning asking about the pricing of the app and if i wanted it at $999, I said yes and explained my reason, they understood and let the reviewer know that I planned on making it free when the time was right. The Apple employee did enlighten me that they do take into consideration the price of the app when reviewing the app, which I found interesting. It makes sense !! So out of all of that, besides learning from my mistakes above, a tip for you that price does factor in your app approval process. I would plan and suggest that we always launch the app for free, that way we avoid the above, and we are able to promote our apps on this forum, get some reviews and rating from the community before we bump the price up after 3 or so days. (remember the people that get your app via a voucher code are not able to rate or comment on your app). Hope this helps someone else in the future... Kind regards, Kristen

I am trying to get an app through on apple as well. My first one. First go around it got denied. I have the price at $2.99. If I set it for free, can I raise it at any time? When I do raise it, will any reviews and ratings show with that version? I know they change with version but I didn't know about price. Thanks. -Shane

You can change price anytime, it does not effect rating and versions.

Is this also true with Google Play? I also recently started charging there as well

No, with Google Play you must have two apps, one of them free, the other being paid for. Once you make it free, you cannot put a price on it again. This is one of the big difference between the Play store and the Apple App store.
