Newbie Questions

I am starting on my first app.. i do have some questions though. The app i am creating is pretty basic but text oriented. Like most its just a informational app about a event.. My questions are this: 1. What plugins should I use to so I can change the information on the app pages? Should I use the HTML editor and then do I have to update the app every time I need a small content change. or do I stick with the custom URL.. The Menu will stay the same but because its a event app for a specific event I want the control to change information. I do have the ability to create a web page have have a phone or tablet view and be able to change this if needed. Will this type of app be reject by Apple because it doesn't have the flair needed? The reason why I say this is because i have a local newstation app on the IPhone and it seems all they have a menu system with all the news linked to a web page.

Hello jvalley, My first app is basically a list of over 200 different food menus using the word doc plugin set inside several menus using the simple menu plugin. I have since started changing the word doc menus over to the custom html text plugin because of the ease of updating the food menus without submitting to Apple. The user will however have to click yes when the app sees that there is an update and prompts him/her if they want to update the data. In my newest app I am using the bt design menu plugin for the home page as it looks great. I just submitted that one to apple for review so i cant tell you if apple liked it or not. As for the simple menu design for the first app, it went through apple with no problems. Dave

Thanks Dave Real quick so I understand.. If I do the Custom HTML Plugin.. I will need to update the app to make the changes as will the user.. Couldn't I just do the Custom URL plugin and use that to be able to change information when ever I want?? I have capability to do this as my web design software is able to take care of this for me. My next question will be if the menu can always stay tabbed on the top of bottom. I am going to take a stab at the BT Design menu plugin also..

The info in the custom HTML text plugin can be changed and updated WITHOUT having to recompile and sent to apple. The user will get a pop up box saying that the data in the app has changed and then asks them if they wish to update it. If the user chooses yes, then the app takes a second and updates from the server. The same will happen if you use the custom URL plugin. I'm not a coder but I suspect the work to use either and update the info would be about the same and the ease of doing it is probably about the same. As far as the tabbed menu, I'm pretty sure that has to stay on the bottom of the screen. Don't take my word for it though, I've never tried to move it. Dave

Actually now that I take a minute and think about it. If you use the custom URL plugin, the changes you make to the document on your server should be transparent to the app user because the URL will remain the same. When the user clicks the button, they just know that the info pops up. They wouldnt know if there was different data on that screen unless they were there previously and remembered it from before.
