Hi All

Hello all, I am new to xcode and Mac’s but eager to learn. I have done some in-house project development with VB and took a class in C back in school, which was many years ago. I am amazed that I remember any of it. The tutorials are helping bring things back. If anyone has any advice for someone I look forward to reading it. Someday I will publish an app. The question is when. Have a great day. Fox

Hi @Fox, Welcome to buzztouch! The answer to your question about when you will publish an app is...NOW! You've come across the best and EASIEST site for creating apps on the entire Internet. If you wanted, you could have a working app by the end of the day. Just select the screens you want in your app, configure them and add content, test, compile and package, and you're ready to go! No need to write a SINGLE line of code if you don't want to...@David has already done that for you. The videos are great for understanding what's going on, but there's no substitute for just jumping in and creating an app. Take a few moments and read this document to make sure you have everything you need in place to get started: http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Things_You_Need_Before_You_Start_Developing_Apps_v1.1.pdf And, like Dave said, consider membership...there are lots and lots of benefits for a super small price! Buzztouch Membership is the best value on the net, in my humble opinion... Welcome! I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it. As a VB'er myself, I've found it to be pretty simple to put together a nice app in a short amount of time, without having to delve into the code for either iOS or Android... Check out the tutorials by GoNorthWest; he knows his stuff. And do a few of the BTU courses. You'll be publishing in no time! Cheers! -- Smug

Hi @Fox! Welcome! All this advice is spot on! The only thing I can add is that the Buzztouch community is probably the best bunch of people you could ask for to help you move forward. The peer support here keeps me coming back and they continue to earn my respect every day. If you ever feel overwhelmed, stuck or just in the mood to share something (smart or even funny) feel free. The camaraderie and good will here is great. Looking forward to when you post that your first app is in the store! -William

Thanks all for the encouragement. I feel I am on my way to bigger and better things. I completed Buzztouch learning path and iOS learning path and feel great. I have learned so much over the last few weeks, Objective-c, OS X, and Buzztouch. My next objective is to learn how to integrate itunes sharing (local PDF, word, and excel doc’s) with my future app. My future app needs the ability to load files locally onto an ipad and iphone for sensitivity reasons. I am also wondering about advantages or disadvantages to the Self Hosting a site. If anyone has any insight, I look forward to your replies. Thanks again for all the encouragement. I feel I have found a home. :) @Fox

Welcome. Start small, just like those old books teach - build some Hello World stuff and then start getting complex.
