Did battle with Android and survived to tell the tale!

After much weeping and gnashing of teeth, I finally managed to publish an Android app on Google Play this morning. This app was previously published on Apple before Christmas. Thanks in a big way go to @Stobe whose JSON snippet plugin (and after-sales support!) helped to considerably lighten the load of duplicating this app. I also couldn’t have figured out the whole signing requirements part of it if it hadn’t been for @GoNorthWest’s Android tutorials - they were a godsend, for sure (debugging v release and API google maps thingymajig - I got myself tied up in knots trying to figure that bit out!!). Thank you guys. Thanks Buzztouch, @David and the team…. I’m having a blast developing apps thanks to you! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irishsemestered&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5pcmlzaHNlbWVzdGVyZWQiXQ..

Nice one! Superb work, worth the tears in the end! The guys you mention do indeed make this place what it is, and of course proper smart contributors like you. Have a great weekend and again, good job!

You are a brave one Dervalo. Hats off to you. I have been putting off making my app for Android for a long time. Hard to teach this dog a new trick, but not impossible. You are inspiring me to finally get serious about doing it. Thank you.

Hi I have downloaded your app and for me and my phone, and it doesn't work nicely. You have put all documents in PDF format, and whenever it wants to open something, it asks me to ascertain that I want to use the Adobe Reader. That question should not be there at all. My suggestion would be to try to use the HTML pages, with the corresponding plugin. Maybe PDFs work out of the box on iPhone, but not on Android. Not related to the content of the app itself, you have an option on Irish music and you have put text into it. Why not use the Launch Native App screen with the YouTube option to put some videos in? In one text it says "you have downloaded our iPhone app" or something like that. I think it should mention Android, not iPhone. Otherwise a nice app. Just for the sake of reference, could you list all the plugins that you were using for the Android app?

PDFs never work out of the box for Android. Fortunately, Android allows the 'back' button to return you into the app when finished. Looks nice! Cheers! -- Smug
