Help

I new to building apps. I have a great idea for a information type app. I want to build an app that shares information about a topic where I'm very knowledgeable, and I'm hoping by sharing this information, I can save people a lot of money. I want to put something together that has 7 or 8 topic tabs, each tab brings up a word or pdf page. I'm just wondering what would be the best way to do this? Easiest? Any ideas would be great.

Just me being me; 'assistance request' is preferred to 'Help'. Anything less than a catastrophic server failure is anti-climatic. ;) First thing you'll want to do is familiarize yourself with Buzztouch. Do a few of the BTU courses, and get a feel for what you can accomplish with it; you'll find you can do everything you've mentioned, and fairly easily. https://www.buzztouch.com/account/btu.php Cheers! -- Smug

Ah... Info app, OK. Good start that you have a topic you are well versed in. Few points: 1. Apple will open PDFs no problem, Android I believe will take you from the app and want to open the native PDF app. Always good to keep users in the app. 2. Apple want you to use the superb device they gave you, interact with the phone hardware, make users do cool things. Android don't care. If you are building cross platform you should be thinking about user engagement to make Apple think, 'yeah, this is cool, people will use this, APPROVE!' 3. In terms of PDFs (see point 1) I prefer to use PDFs converted to jpgs to avoid users having to go down the open native app road. Make sense? 4. Again, Apple want to see your app is useful to many people not just half a dozen buddies, build compelling content that utilises the phenomenal hardware you have and you you'll have more chance of being accepted. In short, if you want to be in app store you'll have to do more than just share info over a few PDF or HTML screens, Play (Android doesn't care, no approval process, they'll take your grans knitting app) Make sense? Makes sense tae me! Shout back with more questions buddy and welcome to BT, the app world is your oyster now. Put some time and effort in and before you know it you'll be posting 'My app is now live.' Cheers, MacApple Ps @SmugWimp is right, he beat me to the punch!

Thanks for the help MacApple. Makes sense, I'm just looking for a little direction right now, trying to anticipate problems that I might come across.

I'm only here a little while I have to say I'm overwhelmed with the amount of support I see the newbees getting. So I'd listen to these guys, they're sound.

Hi MacApple, it's nice to virtually meet you. You have just proven my point. So often entering new areas of work/life even sport there is a huge gap between the Knows and the Don't Knows. I don't get that feeling here at all. Thanks for the welcome Alan

I hear you loud and clear. I've never seen anything like this place. 6am and I'm up posting prior to the fitba match starting, this place just grabs you and keeps you coming back. David Book gave us all something special and created a community like no other. Have a great weekend buddy, see you are in Ireland, happy days to that. Off to watch Celtic now. HH!

I hear you on that, watched a few of the games with a bunch of Irish gents over here over the last 8 yrs, always a good time. Scottish rugby has tanked in recent years, still remember watching us beat England to prevent triple crown around 12 yrs ago. Cold misty day in Scotland, heat and sweat rising from the scrum, flower of Scotland pushing the lads forward, superb stuff.

To be fair it would take very little to put it right, as with so many things. I'll be chatting to you again no doubt, I'm always a good one for a silly question!
