Did you install the bundle from Google with everything included? http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/bundle.html -Shane

OK. Time to take a step back and have a coffee if you plan a late night. Don't pull your hair out. It may seem like a steep learning curve but trust me, the penny drops and bam! you are there. Lets start from the beginning.... 1. OK, you have eclipse installed properly, I say this as you mention emulators. 2. Have you managed to download your BT project and fire it up? 3. You say emulator works then doesn't, what happens? Rest easy, we'll all get there together.

You will, if you have a desire you'll get there. What are you trying to build, what is the nature of your app?

Sorry I seem to be repeating myself, i only posted once! You guys are awesome, thanks, I think coffee is def in order. I haven't got my BT project open up yet but I did get the AVD to open, I got about as far as "Building a simple user interface" in the developer.android instructions just playing around. Ultimately what I am trying to build, for lack of a better description is essentially a Grindr for Girls... Without getting into the politics or anything, the basis of it is something that will be cross platform thought I Have only the capacity to make an android user app right now. So obviously the more complicated plugins as chat function and the ability to access the users GPS on the device will come later. I am starting 100% newb and can literally pretty much only change the colour of my icon. Errr'ybody starts somewhere!

If you 'refresh' the page without leaving it first, it seems to double-post. Let us know what you're having issues with... We've all had issues, and many of us have experienced the same thing when we started... it just takes time and patience. And coffee ;) Cheers! -- Smug

So, it seems like you're actually trying to build an app from scratch, instead of building it in buzztouch and then downloading the source. That is for sure the super hard way to do it, and kinda the opposite of the reason that David built buzztouch! Give this video a watch...shows you how to go from BT Control Panel to running on your emulator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV3Ofi2602I Mark

Mark, you are absolutely correct! Derp. the .pdf I read earlier said that opening a downloaded application in eclipse would be very difficult unless i created the Hello World app... I started to realize this and have actually been playing around with the control panel and just went to download the source but am all over the place now trying to get it to open in eclipse. Right now all I'm getting is how I wish I had a mac. Hang on fellas, this is going to be a loooong slow process but I'm in it for the long haul ;) Going to watch your video, thanks!

Yeah, skip the Hello World app...that'll just confuse you. The video should set you straight! Mark

ok! I do always have a "publish changes" button with a sometimes red, sometimes green dot, I notice this isn't on the videos menu...

That feature is pretty new. It allows you to make changes in the control panel with out it going live to existing apps. Once you want it to go live, update the version number and then publish changes. If your design and live versions are the same(and published), it will be green dot. If they don't match you will see red. Hope this helps. -Shane

For clarification, it only needs to be green when you publish your app to iTunes or Google Play or wherever. When you're still in design mode, testing in the Emulator or on a device, it can stay red, and all your changes will still show up. It's nothing you need to worry about until the final step before publishing. Mark

sweet, well it seems the google API-8 dealy is something I've been missing. I'm pretty chatty, I'll probably get annoying but every little discovery and step forward is so exciting! :p

Yep...your app basically won't compile without a Google API of 8 or greater being specified. Unless you strip out the maps stuff, but that's another topic! Give this doc a good read...it's a start-to-finish, illustrated guide to Android and buzztouch. It'll answer questions you didn't even know you had! https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf Mark

Persevere @nerdgirl - you’ll get there in the end! Go for it! It’s a bit of a long hard slog but it’s a fabulous feeling when it all comes together… almost like magic! (loving the profile pic, by the way!)
