Could a buzztouch app extract content from a news website?

Hello everyone, first of all, I am not sure if I'm posting this in the right section of the forum . So, I apologize in advance if not! I've been trying to learn the basics of buzztouch, the use of its plugins etc. and I must say I really like its simplicity. However, as I have a certain app in mind that I'd like to create, I have a question: Suppose I own a sports news website, and I update its content every day. Is there a plugin that I could use in a buzztouch application, that could "extract" the latest news from my website daily? In other words, could I make an application that would allow its user to view the, daily updated, content of my website? I'm not asking for many details or any kind of code of course - just a hint of where should I begin searching. Thank you in advance for your help!

If you manage the site already, your easiest path is to create a mobile-friendly version of the site in HTML and load it via custom URL plugin. A more native approach might be to turn the headlines into JSON and feed it into a menu plugin or maybe even the blog pro plugin.

What you're looking for is an RSS Plugin. Ever since Buzztouch v2.0 came out, and outdated v1.5, we've been waiting for an RSS plugin ever since. I've tried and failed, and I hope someone else has better luck. RSS is a really complex thing to understand, but whoever gets it on the store, will make a bomb out of it.

I thought someone was working on one already - thanks for the reminder SuVinay! Will it be cross-platform or iOS only?

If you have something for Android, I have an iOS RSS 'sample app' that I was going to eventually convert. You're welcome to mess with the code. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/115208762/SimpleRSS.zip I have one for Android here, if you want to compare: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/115208762/EasyRSS.zip Cheers! -- Smug

The RSS plugin on BuzzTouchMods.com works fine on BuzzTouch 2 projects. It's only applicable for those who use the Self-Hosted package. https://www.buzztouchmods.com/downloads.php?cat_id=1&download_id=14 To see that Plugin in action, download Conservative Republicans app, which was created by MGoBlue. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/conservative-republicans-california/id463185166?mt=8

Thank you very much for your replies! I guess I need the RSS Plugin - so, I suppose I have to be a MEMBER of buzztouch to install it?

Yep - have to be a member to do self-hosting, plus have a website to install it on

An alternative to having your own Web Host (and server), one can use the BuzzTouchMods.com service. It is operated by one of the upstanding Members of BuzzTouch, also known as MrDavid. I don't have direct experience with the BTM service. Yet, I have seen applause from its Users. That's good enough for a recommendation. :-) -- Niraj
