Media iphone wallpaper for apps?

Hi all, I have this awesome red background image for one of my apps, and I just thought that a white glow in the middle would really sweet. (like it gets bright, darker, brighter, darker, a glow of white) So the questions here is, how to implement? I doubt a GIF would be the right way, even if I could get a gif going in a app background (is that even possible?) the quality would be poor. It would have to be some sort of video media file. Any thoughts on this would be awesome! Want to use this on the animated circle plugin, so the glow comes from behind the center button ;) Thanks guys. David https://buzztouchmods.com

I have an animated splash screen plugin in review right now. It's only iOS at the moment, but it uses a series of image files (jpg or png) to do the animation. My guess is that this would work for what you want to do. To create the series of image files, you can load a movie into Photoshop and export it into image files by frame. The reason it's only iOS is that Android doesn't handle loading that many images into memory at once well at all. In my test run, I got 29 frames loaded before it crashed, and it took forever to load them at that. I may try to go with loading the movie file directly for the Android version, or just keep it as iOS only.

Hmm would it retain a movie like quality? A glow should seem smooth, so the highest quality would be needed, I would imagine that it would be a lot of frames to get that done - is it limited by frames? And could something like that be ported into the background of the Animated Circle Menu you think? Cheers Chris, been enjoying our chats! David https://buzztouchmods.com

It definitely retains the movie-like quality. I have it set to run once and stop, since it's a splash screen. But you can easily adapt it to loop continuously. The test I used had 60 frames and it ran perfectly. Not sure how many could be loaded before an iPhone crashed. But I think for what you need you wouldn't have a problem. As for the background of the animated circle menu, this could be done as well. In fact, I think you could simply copy and paste the code from my splash screen plugin right into the circle menu plugin without much adaptation. (It uses the standard background image property already, so you wouldn't even have to mess with manual JSON changes).

and there goes a PM to you. LOL. Sounds like the code could be SUPER useful to hack into other plugins as a alternative to video backgrounds. I was just looking into another solution that might have been more tricky - embedding a SWF. But I hear apple has mixed feelings on that :-) David https://buzztouchmods.com

an animated splash screen sounds like a good idea, i can think of a million things to do with that, @David i dont think it would require too many frames to achieve the glow. possibily 30 frames can achieve it

@ceerup, gotcha! I'm not smart when it comes to video/images/frames. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a glow on this image as a video.. tough. David https://buzztouchmods.com

Chris1 That is awesome news about your plugin. I'm from a broadcasting background and an animated sequence using Jpeg or png files will be produce great quality. It will be dependent on the length of the animation, but in these cases for app projects the animation on a splash only needs to be 3-5 seconds.

David, there is a software called Bluff Titler fantastic for opening credits, you can do simple animation like what you are talking about and save the sequence in a number of formats. Only issue is I was told in BT that you cannot run a HTML background in the background image, so i would be interested to know how you can create an animated background for any screen type.

30 frames is enough for a on and off glow. The key is to get the file size for each frame as small as possible, that is achievable without losing to much quality in photoshop. Sorry, could have put all of this in one post.
