Bare bone Mac computer

I am and have been a PC person for many years and as of now only working with android OS due to my limited ability of not owning an Iphone or mac computer to create an IOS App. I would like to start offering my app to Apple users. Its a free app so don't really want to invest too much. The $100.00/year developers fee is a lot at this point but may need to suck it up. I am not looking to convert over to Mac but wondering what I would minimally need to run X-Code sufficiently. I am looking to buy something used or perhaps on barter. I would prefer a notebook so it doesn't take up too much room. I do have my wifes old Iphone that I am hoping to use as a testing device,(Yes she is an Iphone user)but slowly converting her to PC (Picture Mr. Burns twittering his fingers and saying "Excellent") So any advise or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you again for all past, present and future help! Howard Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Mac Mini's are quite favourable as they are lower cost than a Mac laptop. You will get more power and time for your $ than buying an older mac laptop IMHO. Edit: You can use your PC monitor on the mini, and it's so small, you can hide it away :)

At time of writing, the cheapest refurbed mini is $469 http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac (Assuming you are U.S. based)

Yeah, be sure to be aware of the minimum requirements (intel not PPC). Also, its worth being aware that xcode updates and the minimum system requirement changes. The current version of xcode requires mountain lion and certain older intel machines will not run it well. That said, you can use older versions of xcode but really you want everything up to date, ios as well as xcode.

I tell you, it'll take a month to get used to Mac and the settings and all that Mac stuff, but here is what I think: you will never go back. It costs twice as much, and lasts three times as long! (By no means was that free advertisement for Apple)
