Anyone interested in developing a tvOS app ?

Hey Guys, So I presume you have all signed up for the tvOS developer kit ;) Without stating the obvious here, this is massive opportunity for all of us !! A new app store for a new medium based on a platform we have been using for years. We have an app we made for a client here in Australia for plant based food enthusiasts etc, it is available here: http://bit.ly/PBEapp I would like to trial this app in the tvOS store. Is anyone interested in partnering up with me on this? DM and we can discuss. Kind regards Kristen PS here are some Promo codes for the app: MKLLWKF3T44Y JTRN79H977N7 NH47FKR4ALJH H443P6EE39A9 TY3HKE36RLT7 6ATKLPTMPKRM 9MWRAR7FJMP4 3ERFFMW6E9KW HP3AFJ37TNXR 7T76H9LKETLN P9X7HAMP64PX WKFYWL7J4AY7 R9LHM339HJJX AHXTNNYKH644 NEPTXFAWWAHP

I disagree with the massive opportunity bit, but, if anything, Apple Watch apps are going to (already becoming) the next "massive opportunity", so I'm going to focus my efforts there first. Compared to the tvOS Store, Apple Watch has a way bigger and growing market, and an easier one to build upon at that too if you've already build iPhone/iPad apps, all that jazz... :-) In either case, that's my opinion, still always good to test the waters with all new things right? mrDavid

The early to market opportunity for Apple watch was already past in April. Already 10,000 apps that are watch compatible, after some really simple code additions... Just for the reason that there won't be many apps for the TV when it goes live, there will be limited apps when the TV is available, and a low increase of this because it is a lot more difficult than what some people do for apps and copy and paste other people's code.... again the opportunity lies in the lack of apps that will be available to the market, worth a crack at getting the lions share of the market early on before it becomes more common etc if its easy everyone will do it.

I also entered the latest Apple "lottery" and got the notification today to order the new Apple TV Developer Kit for $1. Can't pass up an Apple product offer for that price. I'm working on updating a couple of my apps to run on tvOS. We'll see where we take this latest Apple device. Good luck on your adventures with tvOS!

@David Hmmmm I was thinking on the line of more variety (all kinds, maybe even more than iPhone types) of apps to be developed for watches, wherein TV apps would be (or would seem to me to be), limited. Example: I have no problem downloading an App to browse cool Italy locations or read the Huffington Post with, but I would search and use those on my device and computer way before I would want to use those types of apps on my TV. Not sure if I explained that right. Not that there won't be plenty of nifty apps to use for my TV, I'm mainly going to use my TV as a media machine, and not download apps unrelated to Media. The same reason why I have a flat screen "Smart TV" and the only two things I launch on it are Netflix and Hulu. Or, maybe I am missing something here? I just can't imagine too many types of apps you would realistically use on your tv over preference of using it on your Computer / Phone / Tablet). Blah.

All developers should have received the email invite. There wasn't much time to sign up for it. I am thinking that apps like the one I mentioned above would be good.

@Leon, you should partner up with Kaybee :-) I hope I'm wrong, who wouldn't want a whole new market to go after with apps? Lol! I'm just not seeing it, unless someone can alleviate to my concerns above. Also, $1 TV, nice. I will be buying it regardless, it blows my Roku out of the water ten times! mrDavid

My Apple TV Developer Kit has landed! Great packaging as usual. Looks the same as v2 and v3 except it's a little thicker. The remote is about 2x the size of the previous generation and looks nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an optical audio out, which is what I used on my v2. Now I have to get to work. Anyone else get one?
