UILabel customisation

Hi guys and gals, the plugin market is flowing and many buyers have ideas for what the plugin should look like after it is released. If I took every PM and added every feature the control panel for the Buzz_carousel would be 2000 feet long. Everything in iOS can be changed in xcode and I mean everything. people have complained that the label in the carousel looks a bit drab, here is a simple custom UILabel class you can implement. https://github.com/vigorouscoding/KSLabel swap all the uilabel to KSLabel including interface builder class for the label here's a demo of it in action http://youtu.be/EABf-BkVCt4 This doesn't have to be used with the carousel and can be used to manipulate any UILabel. There are dozens of similar classes on Github including a more complicated ones.

Give a mouse a cookie and they'll want a glass of milk. ;) You're a major influence on my desire to do plugins. Keep on keepin' on! Cheers! -- Smug

Ya if it wasn't for all those pesky "Customers" I guess the Plugin Marketplace would be more fun for Plugin Developers. Isn't the magic gathering all of the input, filtering and becoming an even better developer? I did not ask for a cookie or a glass of milk when I supported your efforts in the Plugin Market with my dollars. I don't recall sending a recommendation for consideration, but if I did it was to help make your next plugin even better. The labels were not up to your usual standards so maybe some customers called you out. It would never have occurred to me that users would use labels with this Plugin. Please keep in mind that fixing something in xcode is not an option for all of your customers. I have said it before that you continue to set the bar for plugin development. Good luck as you continue to develop Plugins. I look forward to supporting your next project. Mike

Mike I'm not slagging off the customers and applaud all those that give me direction. Most of what is posted is taken on board. Things like adding gradients to buttons and labels, custom fonts and font sizes, spinning and angled images, wordArt, scrolling labels and two line labels (both for longer text) the list goes on. The code for each one isn't much but when added together is a lot of different class files, a lot of code needed to be added to the control panel. Re reading my post it has come out a little wrong, it wasn't intended as an insult it was intended to show people if they wanted to jazz things up there is a way they can do it themselves and I am happy to teach them. I have been doing this coding malarky for a few months, and I'm learning new things constantly, and I encourage others to play with the code themselves. I'm hoping to write a lot of mini tutorials to get these pretty classes working, as they can be used with multiple plugins. There must be a line between creating a mass market plugin (that does a lot, and a lot more in the next update) and creating a custom plugin which has 100 features and only one person may use each one. Plus the more features you add the more complicated the plugin becomes to use. and more prone to crashing. I

I agree with you I never originally though to have labels either. I don't like the labels I never have it was an option some people wanted. The biggest problem with the labels is that the plugin contains several different carousel combinations is it 14. With the offset options the carousel can be placed anywhere on the screen. The logistics of moving this label to a place that isn't blocked by the carousel is mind boggling (to me at least).

Wow. Those Hi quality images in your video. Love it. Hope those were not from Fiverr..... Isn't the majority of posts here really about customizing Davids plug-ins? All those same stock plug-ins we have all used forever. But all of us want to use or tweek them a little bit. Modding a plug-in you buy is like souping up your wheels. Cooper/Hyundai sell you a car and you can pay to customize it at a shop if you want it to have bigger wheels, tinted glass, etc... That label class is pretty cool. Try to implement it, great way to learn this stuff. That can be used in other screens/plug-ins too!

I love the demo video! You could call that plugin "Doodle Menu" :)
