I created a new version of the "blank screen" plugin - this one is set up to handle child items. Since I'm pricing it at free, I figured I'd go ahead and give you the plugin now if you'd like. I created this because I realized it takes a lot of work to do the copying and pasting necessary to start a plugin that handles childitems, along with all the cleanup necessary to remove the parts you don't need. Is this going to go into the plugins market?

I submitted it today.

I went to put this in my self hosted cp and got this error. "Error Un-Zipping Archive? This error is sometimes caused by the type of software that was used to create the .zip archive, it could not be opened. " Thanks for making this. Adding child items to the CP is the one thing that is holding me up.

Yeah - I always have problems uploading zips to my self-hosted. You can either unzip it to your computer and re-zip it and try that, or just unzip it and ftp all the files directly to your server in the plugins folder (after creating a subfolder in there for the plugin).

Basically. It removes code for handling the childItems as menu items, but keeps the code for downloading the childitems and putting them into an array for use in whatever you're developing. I also beefed up the Android comments to explain how the different methods and nested classes work.
