Facebook Integration into Socialize

I really need help here, I have tried for 2/3 months to get this working and cannot get it to work at all. I have followed the guide on Socialize but I cannot get past the Facebook Authentication when I want to add a comment. Every time click the link to 'sign in', it attempts to launch the Facebook login page but then returns back to the socialize chat module. Whats wired is, it work first time round, allowed me to login and allowed Socialize access, but then didn't work when I tried to add a comment. This is harder than trying to integrate Push! Can anyone help.

Thanks man! Sorry for late reply, time difference, UK. Would you be able to provide screen shots of the code that is added in case I have missed something or do you have a tutorial/guide I can follow to get the Facebook and Twitter sign in working. Again thanks for replying.

I'M sorry for the late reply haha...I got a little sidetracked today. First of all, did you put this method in your app delegate? - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application openURL:(NSURL *)url sourceApplication:(NSString *)sourceApplication annotation:(id)annotation { return [Socialize handleOpenURL:url]; }

Hi Absentia do you have an easier way for use to help resolve my issue with the Facebook and Twitter integration into Socialize? I'm sure your busy, but maybe if you created some screen shots for where the code should go in my project or indeed the setup of your app in Facebook, it might help me. I do appreciate the help though.

Well there's really hardly any code necessary to get it going - just the method I posted above and the app ID, so I can't imagine you're getting that part wrong. Here's a screenshot of my facebook settings for one of my apps - http://www.pixobit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/facebook.png Also, just to be sure, did you add -ObjC and -all_load to "other linker flags" in the target build settings?

Hi Absentia is the code you said need to be added to the app delegate, is the .m or .h? - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application openURL:(NSURL *)url sourceApplication:(NSString *)sourceApplication annotation:(id)annotation { return [Socialize handleOpenURL:url]; }

Absentia you are a star, its working now, cannot thank you enough, just don't know what to say. I was looking at you Quiz app, which gave me some inspiration, any way to return the favour, you may need this or not, but a friend of mine created a YouTube video player using their API, nice layout and works fantastic on iOS, would you like to have? To use it you will need to have a server to host the files and also your own YouTube channel, but I can explain how it works. Let me know. Again you are a star!

Absentia, still having issues with Twitter, keeps saying 'could not get request token' any ideas? Facebook works great now.

I think I know what the problem is - You need to go to your apps dashboard on getsocialize.com. Click the little gear to go to your settings - then go to "Application Settings" Scroll all the way down and you will see some small blue text that says "+ Add Twitter Credentials (If Using Twitter)" - You need to click that and enter in your twitter key and secret then save the YouTube player sounds pretty sweet - can't think of much use for it now but I'll send you a message if I do

Hi Abs I have added the twitter keys a few times to my app in Socialize, but it wont save and keeps disappearing from the control panel when I go back to the page. Should I contact Socialize about this then?

Hi Abs sorry to bother again, managed to get the twitter keys to save in the socialize control panel, but get the same message. When creating the keys in twitter, are there any particular settings I have to set in order for it to communicate with the app? puzzled.

No problem, you have to make sure your access level is set to "read and write" - also, you need to specify a callback URL the callback URL can be anything as long as there is some kind or URL there
