small vs large and landscape vs portrait

I gues this question just shows my ignorance of Android which is absolute but: I have 4 devices configured. Two are phones and 2 are tablets (more on these two later). The two phones are the 5.1 WVGA 480 X 800 and the 4.65 Galaxy Nexus 720 X 1280. The thing is, when I change the entries in the control panel for large device button size, the changes show up on the Nexus when it's simulator is run, despite the fact that it's smaller (4.65 vs 5.1) Am I interpreting small vs large correctly. Also, the two tablet I use, 7" WSVA and 10" WYGA open up in landscape mode. Is this the standard default for these tablets. I'm used to Ipads whose simulators always start in portrait. Thanks for answering. Steve

You've got several questions here, and this is only an answer to one of them, but I hope it helps... The "large" vs "small" device is determined in the BT_device.java file, under the "public void updateDeviceSize()" method. It looks at the device width, and if the width is greater than 500, it's considered large. May not always be the best determinate, but it can be easily changed. Here's the code: //large or small device? if(this.deviceWidth > 500){ this.isLargeDevice = true; BT_debugger.showIt(objectName + ":updateDeviceSize This application considers this to be a \"large device\""); }else{ this.isLargeDevice = false; BT_debugger.showIt(objectName + ":updateDeviceSize This application considers this to be a \"small device\""); }
