Android backgrounds - so confused

I posted about this in an earlier thread and was directed to this guide - http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html - I'm doing my best to wrap my head around all of that but it's just not clicking. So if I'm understanding correctly, those four folders that come with the Android package - hdpi, Idpi, mdpi, and xhdpi - they basically indicate where you should put small, medium, large, and extra large images? For you guys that have been developing for Android for a while, what is your usual workflow for creating backgrounds - in other words, what are the exact image dimensions you generally end up using for your apps? Xcode is sounding like a cozy blanket right about now...

Hey @Absentia, I would advice to create a test App for Android and use the medium(mdpi) first. See how that looks on different devices and go from their with trial and error. When I do a background, I always put it in the medium folder and it usually works on all devices, but I'm not a graphic designer. LA

This is good timing as I was wondering the same but was holding off on this question as I have so many more! :-) On somewhat of the same subject, I am having problems with image sizes for my custom HTML/TEXT screen. They don't adjust well with different android devices. The problem is the images in the screens are referenced to the Assets folder and not the Res. Any suggestions. Thanks, Howard

Hey @hasher13, You can put the images in same folder as your html. Just reference the images. LA

I've found among other things, if I want my HTML to look better on devices, I have to add this into the HTML header... <meta content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=2.0; user-scalable=1;" name="viewport" /> It makes things look a lot better on smaller device screens.
