Does the version number have to be a whole number?

Just wondering if I can use something like 2.2 thanks, Howard

Sorry, yea re-reading it, I see the confusion... In the BT control panel under push notification, does the version number have to be a whole number such as 2 rather than 2.x? Also can the version number of the APK file again be 2.x or soemthing when updating the apk file on google play? I hope that makes more sense, thanks again, howard

I'm still waiting on Push for the self hosted, so I can't really say... But have you tried it on a test app just to see what happens? Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Howard, Checking on the version number thing for you...going straight to the source! In the AndroidManifest.xml file, there are two strings: android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" The first one has to be whole increments, so no decimals. The second can be whatever you want it to be, because it's displayed to the user. Mark

The word from @David is that decimals are fine, so you could match the version number with versionName to keep track of updates. Mark

Hey Mark, thanks for checking for me. I changed the version code and version name in the Manifest tab in the Androidmanifest.xml file which transferred and changed the settings under the androidmanifest.xml tab. When I do change it I get an error.."error: Error: Float types not allowed (at 'versionCode' with value '4.1'). Does that make sense? Thanks, Howard

versionCode has to be a whole number - 1, 2, 3, etc. It has to be incremented from the previous version of the same app. versionName can be an integer - 1.5, 4.1, etc. It's what your users will see. Make sense? Mark
