Unusual errors in eclipse

I have errors that wont let me run my app. Things like mapview, map controller, geopoint. I didnt put any type of maps or gps functionality in my app, so why is it in my source code?

Are you using google api level 8? Right click the project in the left hand pane, go to properties, android and tick google api level 8. The code for every plugin in your control panel gets downloaded in the project, even if you don't use it. If you're not using maps, and never likely to in that app, you can also delete the maps java files, the associated xml file and comment out geopoints and remove the maps import in the BT_item java file. Also, in self hosted (don't know if bt's control panel is the same?) you can delete the maps plugin from your control panel.

LA did a pretty quick video showing the most common error in eclipse; incorrect API version http://youtu.be/kvTmWLwLqq0 I concur with raveyd; Make sure that you're good with the right API. Cheers! -- Smug

thanks the android api 8 2.2 was ticked instead of just api 8.thank you I will do all that but my app still doesnt show anything in source code that I made online. I made sure I publish it when I do changes also. Like on tabs it says tab 1,tab 2,tab 3.instead of the tabs I specified it to say, any idea what that could be?

sorry I meant the menu list just has item 1,item 2, item 3,etc.. instead of what I specified on buzztouch.

There are basically 'two' labels for a tag. the 'Nickname' which is what all the internal components use, and the 'Label' which is the name that humans see. Make sure your 'Label' is filled in. refer to this screenshot: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/115208762/namedtabs.png Cheers! -- Smug (and if you're doing this in the BT Control Panel, make sure that your changes are 'published'. The dot turns 'green' when successful) https://dl.dropbox.com/u/115208762/publishchanges.png

try 'cleaning' your project. In the eclipse menu: 'Project > Clean' (above 'build automatically') That 'should' help... Cheers! -- Smug

If you're not seeing anything in your app on the Android emulator, then it's possible that you don't have a screen configured as your home screen? In the Layout section of your control panel for that app, you can choose a single Home Screen, or set multiple tabs (which it sounds like you've done). Whichever screen you set as the first screen, should actually exist and have some sort of content. By the way...every buzztouch app contains the capability for mapping, whether you've configured it or not...that's one of the awesome things about buzztouch. That's the reason you needed to switch APIs, because buzztouch maps use Google Maps. It's possible to take all that stuff out, and just use the Android API, but unless you have a compelling reason to do so, it's best to keep it in. Let us know how things are progressing! Mark

What exact errors are you seeing? Can you provide a screenshot? All the geopoint errors will get resolved with any of the Google API 8 or higher. Mark

The warnings you can ignore for now. What are the errors? Those are what prevent it from compiling. Mark
