Self hosting worth it?

Hello, I have been considering using self hosting for many purposes. I have a few questions: What is the best recommended self hosting site for self hosted control panel? Is there any up-to date tutorials on installing self hosted because the pdf in how-to is kind of out dated, any videos made will be great! I heard that there is 100 limited API calls, what is that? thanks Alec

I did self hosted for awhile with buzztouchmods. They were good but I found out that at where I am at as an app builder, I did not need it at this point.

I think self-hosting is worth it if you like to manage your own server (which you'll have to do, which includes server code updates), or you want to build a business reselling the service to others. The 100 API call is more than adequate...each packaging of the app source counts as an API call. You should only have to package it once for each app, unless you add plugins to your server. And that's 100 calls per month. If you're just building apps for yourself, then I'd recommend staying with buzztouch.com, and let them take care of all the hard stuff. That frees you up to work on apps! Mark

@Mark Could you please tell me, what i have understood is right based on your explanation given above. Let me say i have install all the free plugins on my self hosted server and i build a 10 screen app using 6 plugins, then i request for a download package. So with this how does buzztouch count the api requests. is it one or 6.

Each time you ask for a source code package, that counts as one API call. So, if you ask for iOS and Android source for a single app, that's two API calls. You should only have to get source code once for an app, unless you've added a new plugin to your server and you want to use that in your app. Mark
