Noob Question: New Plugin

Hello guys how are you doing I have a noob question. What if I have a new plugin installed in my self hosted server should I download and build the app from scratch? Or can I just copy the new plugin and include it in the xcode file so that I won't have to build it again?

Hi @awesomatt, Well you can do it from your self hosted but you have to think about the future of the App. If it's on Buzztouch then you have all access to all the screens and new plugins just to add to your App. LA

Anytime you add a plugin into your app project, you should re-download and recompile. If you're talking about a BT hosted app that you're going to move to self hosted, you'll have to rebuild and recompile. Cheers! -- Smug

thanks guys. I am wondering if there's another way around it? because i don't want to code the additional plugins (appoxee, socialize, revmob, etc) everytime there's a new plugin in buzztouch to add in my app. hope my question is not too confusing :-O so let's say i have an app and it is already finished in xcode (appoxee, socialize, etc already implemented) and then there's a new plugin that has been released in the buzztouch plugins market that i want to add in my app. do i have to add the new plugin in my self hosted server then download the app and then do everything else starting from zero?

Hi @awesomematt, Yep, if you add a new plugin to your self-hosted server, and you add that plugin to an app, you need to download the source again to pick up the code. But you may NOT need to reconfigure all the stuff you mentioned, if the changes are in files which are not affected by the new plugin. I think the best way to proceed would be to download the new source, do a diff between the old source and new, and see what's changed. If nothing has changed in the new stuff in the files you have modified, then you should be able to just copy over the old files. Make sense? Mark

Your good if you just copy the folder with your new plug-in to your project. Download a full source of the project and just drag the folder you want into your existing project. Clean the project and you'll be good. I would suggest to update the btconfig JSON into your local project too so the new screen can be configured.
