(tutorial) Push Notifications on iOS in PDF format

Hello, (updated to v1.1) I've created a tutorial on how-to-do push notifications for iOS (iPhone / iPad). These topics are documented with instructions and annotated screenshots: Lets walk you through the necessary steps to get your App ready to receive Push Notifications for alerting Users to items about an app: • Setting up and configuring the BuzzTouch Control Panel • Making changes to the downloaded code from the BuzzTouch packager • Creating and obtaining Push Certificates from Apple's Provisioning Portal • Composing, sending and testing Push Notifications to registered devices • Changes to do for sending Production notifications http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20488790/BuzzTouch%20iOS%20Push%20Notifications.pdf For quick browsing of the PDF, try these techniques with the Preview or the Adobe Reader application on the Mac: - Enable the Sidebar: View menu, show Table of Contents - Show all items in Sidebar: View menu, expand all - Search for a phrase or term: Command-F and view results in Sidebar Depending on how a person learns, by reading or watching, the BT Community has got you covered! -- Niraj

Very comprehensive and very timely, as I am struggling with this right now - I'll give it a go. Thanks for sharing, Alan

Please refresh your copy of the PDF by downloading v1.1 of the tutorial. Improvements made: 0. Updated the footer to show the version number 1. Added a Version History section 2. Moved creation of PEM Certificate to the beginning 3. Numbered the Steps (within a Lesson) 4. Italicized the title of the Lessons

Niraj, clearly you put a lot of effort into this (83 pages!), it is very comprehensive and frankly, anything on this you could need to know on this subject is in the document. All good. I suspect you do this for a living.

Naw -- I don't do documentation on a daily basis. I see the value of telling people everything up front. That way, they are being told how to fish instead of simply eating from the plate. In a previous career, I used to build and deliver PHP-based solutions to customers. Once I delivered, I wanted to move onwards to the next challenge. I did not want to be held back by Customwrs who said "I don't know how to ..."! It was then I learned the value of good documentation, it kept me from getting callbacks! :-) Thanks, let me know if the Guide needs updated. In a few days, I will be updating it for a few changes due to the release of the Self-Hosted 2.1.8 package and for the Live mode changes. -- Niraj
