Playing with Buzztouch Push

So i uploaded my .pem dev cert and password to my buzztouch hosted control panel. Got the green light for dev cert. In core, said yes to allowing push permission, selected default url. Downloaded the new source code. Changed config to live in xcode. App launches perfectly on my iphone 5 except that I dont get the prompt for push notifications when the app launches. Console says..... appDelegate: promptForPushNotifications then...... appDelegate: didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError: ERROR: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=3000 "no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application" UserInfo=********* {NSLocalizedDescription=no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application} Any thoughts? Is the buzztouch backend ready for us pushers yet? Im sure that I'm jumping the gun here but I like to play> Thanks Dave

Hi Calypso... For sure we OWE the gang a PDF with some details about this. Look for it online later (in your Push screen). Until then... a) Are you sure you enabled Push in the Apple Dev. Portal for the Provisioning Profile you setup? This seems easy but can get trick. b) Did you choose "Development" for the Provisioning Profile you're using? I'm guessing you compiled this for Dev (not production) or you wouldn't have it on your phone :-) Tons of these little details to work through in the coming days, we'll get OUR END and your end figured out lickety split. Lots of things to "discover" in the next 72 hours. It should get easier on your end when you see the PDF we're finishing. Also may be worth reviewing: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5681172/bundle-identifier-and-push-certificate-aps-environment-entitlement-error

Just curious how these push notifications come across. For instance in Android, Do they pop up as a notification message in the notification bar? Or will it open the app and give the message that way. Probably a stupid question. Just not at all familiar with push.

@Outbreak: Pretty simple today. Android messages show up in the standard Notification Bar. We have big plans for some snazzy features to help spice up what we can all do with push. Baby steps. @Calypso: No worries, basic .pdf uploaded but should be enough to get you going. http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/pushNotifications-iOS.pdf

Hey Guys, I managed to get Push Notifications working !!! I was midway through setting up the .pem files via the apple info, then got David's pdf which helped prevent any "Gotcha's". Actually pretty easy to do in the end :) managed to test with a really simple app from buzztouch.com, can't wait to test it out with my self hosted site !!! Everything went smoothly, @David you are a legend !!
