Can anyone do this??

Not sure if you guys are aware of Pebbel watches. Well they have just launched their iOS app found here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pebble-smartwatch/id592012721?mt=8 Even if you haven't ordered this cool watch, download this app and have a look at the launch screen. Anyone have any idea how to do this? Looks really cool

On my 3GS iOS v6.0.1 the launch screen comes and goes so darn fast I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to see. The little bit that I did see might have been animated. Is that your question? http://www.icodeblog.com/2009/07/24/iphone-programming-tutorial-animating-a-game-sprite/ Cheers! -- Smug

The scrolling watches are quite neat. However aside from that, the watch itself is pretty darned cool - as a gadget man, that ranks up there.

1) Make a box (a UIView). 2) Add some stuff to it, like a UIImageView holding a neato watch. 3) Alter the Frame around the box (the x value) pixel by pixel every so often so it crawls slowly to the left (or right, up, down, whatever. //make a UIView 50 pixels from the top, all the way off screen to the right, 200 tall, 200 wide. UIView *myBox = [[UIView alloc initWithFrame:CGRectMake(50, 320, 200, 200); //make an image view to add to the box.... UIImageView *myWatch = [UIImageView initWithImage:@"pebblewatch.png"]; //add the image to the box... [myBox addSubview:myWatch]; //add the box to the main view... [self.view addSubview:myBox]; //create an animation that takes a very very long time so the watch moves slowly across screen. [UIView animateWithDuration:30.0f animations:^{ CGRect rect = myBox.frame; rect.origin.x -= 2.00f; myBox.frame = rect; } completion:^(BOOL finished){ }]; //figure out how to put that in a method so it resets, gets fancy, whatever. Or, alternatively, you could create a method that moves the box a tiny bit then fire the method over and over again on a timer. Couldn't resist adding something to this after seeing the watch..back to pressing issues.

Can't believe you guys don't know about Pebble !! Its onIy the biggest kickstarter project ever. They were hoping to raise $100,000 and ended up selling $10,000,000's worth of them. I ordered a couple ;) Check out their kickstarter page here... Thanks for the codeNinja David !! ( I think you should add this to the options in our account "Ninja" ) Cheers

I can honestly say that I've never heard of "Pebble Watches" either, and the company owners are literally 45 minutes away from me. I did own a similar technology..the sorta famous "Sony Ericsson LiveView Bluetooth Smart Display Watch", and yes its neat, but really to me its more of a gimmick/niche market. But heck if you can get people to buy into it, why not. The Waterloo kids did really well for themselves thats for sure.

I love ninja code snippets! Thanks David- (This is why it rules when he is on the forum, you never know what he's going to post....) I have been trying to tweek/build an Animation using CAAnimation. I would like to have some image fade in/out parameters. CG Animations are just not 'smooth'.... I've modded the stock BT Spalsh Screen and added a CG animation to it, but I'd love to take it up a notch using some of the code from here: http://iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-tutorials/82397-using-animation-groups-to-create-a-linked-sequence-of-animation-steps.html I didn't download the Pebble app - but the description of the animation sounded exactly like that tutorial I've been working on... and I still remember when this came out and how awesome it was when I got one for xmas. http://www.retrothing.com/2009/03/retro-deal-17-casio-calculator-watches.html
