Ipod Plugin

Maybe I missed something, but is there a plugin to link a button directly to your iPod/music app

Hi @Braktoo00, Welcome to buzztouch! The plugin you are looking for is the "Launch Native App" plugin. You can configure that to launch any of the native apps that Apple provides. Mark

Thanks for the reply mark. Is there a way you can tell me how to do this, or maybe point to document that will give me better tips on configuring plugins. I've been checking out the videos on buzz u, maybe I haven't got far enough. I'm new to this and really eager to learn. Thanks for your help

Hello! Each plugin in buzztouch has a control panel with it that you can use to configure various parameters of the plugin. In this case, there's instructions on how to configure it for various native apps, and a place where you put that information. Just add the screen to your project, hit that control panel section for that screen, and you should be good! Mark

I understand what your saying and I have the plugin for the native app selected. I also see all the options available to configure the plugin YouTube, google maps, mail etc.. Out of all the options there the one to launch the iPod isn't. So I'm trying to figure out how to add that.

OK, I "think" you can just put this in the URL line, and it "may" work: music: I got that from this link: http://wiki.akosma.com/IPhone_URL_Schemes#Music_.2F_iPod Give it a shot and let me know what happens! Mark

Hey Mark, I've been trying to get this to work since last night, but when I past that URl scheme into the data string and i refresh the iOS simulator I get a message that says the device cannot open the application with this URL Scheme. Any ideas? Thanks for all your help. Tory

Just out of curiosity would be this happen because the music player is not installed on my iOS simulator?

That's probably the case. If the music player isn't on your simulator, then I don't think the app would know what to do! If you have an iPod, you can always run your app to that instead of the simulator and test it there.

Ok thanks for all your help its really appreciated. Do you have any suggestions for a book, or something where I can get more famaliar with Xcode, and programming in general. A course, a series of videos, or anything that you think would benefit me?

There's lots of stuff in the How-To section. The good thing about buzztouch is that you don't actually have to learn how to code! And stackoverflow.com is a great source of help for any problems you have (in addition to this forum). Mark

Ok, I have been in and out of the forums, how tos, and buzz u. I'm finding a lot of useful things that have gotten me further in my project, but maybe I'm having a hard time putting it together. What i want to do I think requires some knowledge of code, or at least modifying the plugins. For example I want to link a button to pull up the calendar, and allow the user to select a time, date, and duration for something to happen. kind of like an alarm, but more so to change a setting on their iPhone/android at this selected time, and for the duration chosen. I hate to blast the forum with questions, and i am seeking answers through this website, and other sources, just having a hard time putting it together. Would I activate this type of feature with the launch native app plugin, or do i need to create a custom plugin of some sort, and where can I find the info on the code required to do so. Again I'm very appreciative of your help, and the info you provide. Tory
