Mentor

I am looking for a plugin mentor. I want to learn as much as possible about the whole process as I can from an experienced plugin developer! Any one interested? LA

For what it's worth, I've worked a lot with LA. He's a fast learner, and very motivated to understand how to develop plugins the right way. If you have time to help him out, it would probably be a very good relationship for both of you! Mark

i think this is a great idea. i created a plugin and submitted but i was missing so much data, it was sent back to me. missing images etc etc. I wasnt aware of the full process and eveything you need to package up when submitting the plugin. A small 'jobaid' or video would be great as we all want to get involved with the new buzz that is PLUGINS :)

It would be nice if some seasoned developers would jump in here and show how the Buzztouch community is awesome! We ban together and show by example. LA

I'm happy to help with general queries with iOS. Mentoring is a big job, I get inundated with PM's asking this, that and the other but some are unable at the moment to grasp the simpler aspects of coding, such as adding one line of code to a method. I taught myself how to build plugins by exploring and breaking and putting back together the exisiting plugins. I then moved on to exploring and breaking third party SDKs, then moved onto github and started doing the same with other peoples code. Have a look inside the index.php of the files and figure out through ctrl-f where each of the json variables link up. Susan has stated a few times that plugin creation webinars are coming up so I think patience will be the key, all the fundementals will hopefully be covered. I personally work full time 48 hours per week and do this as a hobby, spending hours with someone is always going to be difficult. I make plugins for Buzztouch, I spend hours trawling the net for cool features, any questions feel free to ask. Break the code to be the code.

LA -- to clarify for possible mentors, are you I interested in Android or iOS mentors? SuVinay -- I am already impressed with your persistence in learning new things and your accomplishments, keep on trucking! I already know you are interested in Android Development (until your Hackintosh comes to life :-) I too am learning about Plugin development by asking David Book lots of questions during the Q&A Webinars. He is such a great teacher! My documentation for that journey is almost complete for iOS. Then I will do the PHP / Control Panel next. Then Android is last. -- Niraj

Hey @Niraj Shah, Right now Android as I have a few plugins ready to get tested on self-hosted cp but need a little mentoring in that and integration in Buzztouch Control panel. I can code Android with no problems. My problem is integration in the control panel. After I learn that then I will code for IOS. LA

@LA -- I will be conquering the Self-Hosted with custom plugins and the PHP modifications for the Control Panel this week. Perhaps I may have a few tips to share after that adventure! I saw you attended the Q&A Session this week and had asked David Book a few questions about the Control Panel. Great questions! I learned from that mini-tutorial. It seems easy after David's explanation!

Hey @Niraj Shah, That would be great! I learn things pretty quick. I'm more concrete than abstract. Email me on here when your ready and thank you! LA
