About wav files

I know apple is always picky and im not in the mood to get another app rejection. But im currently making a soundboard and will they mind .wav files i know i seen people use .m4a and .mp3 but is .wav good for iOS? i know android .wav are fine

"wav" yes. I'd still convert them if you can find a way to batch it (depending on number of audio files to convert). Why chance it? https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/AudioVideo/Conceptual/MultimediaPG/UsingAudio/UsingAudio.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40009767-CH2-SW6 Cheers! -- Smug

Ogg Vorbis, but those aren't supported, lol! I'd still use MP3. You can use something like Audacity if you want to reduce it from stereo to mono, change the sample rate, and other parameters that can vastly reduce your audio file size (and subsequently reduce your audio quality as well; be sure not to take 'too' much out of it). With respect to 'batch' conversion of audio files, I'm not sure of any utilities to do that... But I'll look. Cheers! -- Smug

I have a published app that uses mp3 on apple, so I don't believe they would see that as a reason for rejection. And mp3 a lot smaller than wav and also works on android.

Nice find on NCH, loooks lean and mean. Wonder if the free version is limited/hobbled somehow... @ceerup .wav is uncompressed PCM audio. Always the largest format of an audio file (except for newer hi-def formats that don't really apply here) You can compress .wav files into lots of formats - but mp3 is most popular because of how small it can be compressed and still sound 'ok' mp3 files also contain tag/meta info such as the track name/artist/album wav does not have this container. go with .mp3 compressed down to @ 128k for a decent quality and good size. big fan of dbpoweramp, but that was like versions ago. not sure what it is now. I use Soundforge for all my pro audio needs (I LOVE Music, huge collector) here's a nice chart that shows/expains it well: http://nigelcoldwell.co.uk/audio/
