(need) Utility to clone an app on the BT Control Panel

We need an easy and error-free method to clone an existing BuzzTouch App. The new app would be another Application in our Account within the BT Control Panel. The JSON Snippet Keeper is a poor man's workaround. The utility has a sweet spot, but its not meant for mission-critical things such as cloning an app. There is too much leeway for human error to creep into the equation. (Indeed, I'm spoiled by the built-in Export-Import utility for WordPress and how well it keeps me from shooting my own foot :-) As BuzzTouch gains more Members, there will be an increase of slight differentiation of apps between iOS and Android due to the single-platform plugins. Which will necessitate making a copy of the original app for the 2nd mobile platform. My vote -- The App-DB-and-Config-Copy utility should be in the Top-10 of BuzzTouch priorities for 2013. Sincerely, -- Niraj

Well, if we're talking about that, I wouldn't mind a bulk upload capability, so I can upload 30 or so icons at a time, rather than one each. And documents, etcetera... This kind of project is in my purvey, but it's mostly a time issue; I've got other responsibilities that won't let me do this for a couple of months. I cloned my self hosted BT Database so I could play with PHP and and see what could come up, but again I may not have the time required for the project. It wouldn't be 'difficult', but it would be 'meticulous', because the JSON data of a menu isn't attached to the menu record; it's in it's own record. And it's that way for a lot of things. So you'd have to keep a few balls in the air while you were juggling. Again, not impossible, but tedious. Not nearly as hard would be a bulk uploader for images, documents, etcetera. That being said, I think both would be a valuable tool for self hosted, or BT hosted alike. But I wouldn't harp on the BT folks to do it; they're busy making the core product stable and enriching other aspects of the infrastructure. This reeks of 3rd party, and a little coin could be made if someone gets to it before I do. How much would you pay for this kind of utility? $10? $20? Multiply that by a few BT'ers, and you've got enough money for a new iPhone. or a used Macbook Pro. Cheers! -- Smug

@Niraj, You are right. In a perfect world, it would be that easy. But the copy/clone process is incredibly complex to implement on our end. We do realize how important this feature would be to the members, which is why its definitely on the to-do list. -Chris

A bulk uploader would be useful, but I have to agree with Niraj, the ability to clone an app would be massive. Gets my vote.

I have been converting many of my apps using JSON config snippet plug in. It takes some time but not nearly as long as starting from scratch.

Awesome -- it's on the to-do list! :-) I understand the complexity and the juggling of priorities. -- Niraj
