Time for BT Android!!

Back to Buzztouch after a long break to discover that the earth is spinning faster here and you guys have jumped on a time machine!! I am so excited about this year now as we have a great team now taking care of BT. My first aim for this year is to change my IOS app to android which I am struggling with!! I have followed @GoNorthWest tutorials and succeeded with downloading and running eclipse with android SDK. Downloaded the source code for an android app, added the images and documents, but no success in making it run!! nothing is showing in the emulator! I am sure the start is not easy and waiting for your feedback guys.

Make sure you also include the plugins folder in your project.

It is usually there for the IOS version! @Ian I am trying to convert a 2.0 app and I got a huge number of errors! now i am trying a 1.5 app but eclipse is not opening it, it is saying : Cannot import BT_activity_root because the project name is in use!!! wissam

You don't need to add plugins for the Android. You do need to change the SDK, and a few other items... that 'cannot import bt_activity_root' error is trying to open up the same project in the same workspace. You'll need to change the name of one before you can open both of them in the same workspace, I think. Otherwise, if you follow along the documentation (the installation.pdf file that was zipped with the project) you should be good to go. If not, somebody is always around to help! Cheers! -- Smug

Hey Wissam, You're almost there! To rename your project in Package Explorer, just right-click, select Refactor, then select Rename. As for not seeing a screen, make sure that you actually have a Home Screen assigned in your Control Panel. Go to layout, and depending on whether you have a Tabbed or Non-Tabbed layout, at least one screen needs to be defined. Don't forget this doc...lots of answers to be found! https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf Mark

@Ian, I have changed the colour of the menu and navigation bar then i copied the new BT-config data and replaced the old one in the android folder. I got a new error now: There was an error loading the configuration data!!! Are these common errors or am i doing the wrong thing here? it is really frustrating!! Wissam

Sounds like your emulator is fine. But is it set to Google API 2.2 (API Level 8) ? This is most likely not the problem but just checking. You are still getting the error: There was an error loading the configuration data!!! Is this the only error? Logcat telling you anything? keep us posted:) ian

Thanks @Ian for the help but unfortunately it is not working:( I even created a new app with just 2 screens and no colours at all and when i tried to open it on eclipse it did not! I think i should not waste more time on Android and let me focus back on IOS stuff. I have created few apps using Gamesalad for android but they are not doing that well compared to app store. I think it is a knock out from the first round!!!

@Wissam, Not time to give up quite yet! Send me your zipped up project and I'll run it through Eclipse to take a look. MrkFleming at gmail dot com. We'll get this worked out! Mark
