It might be worth snooping through to see if it can be easily adapted to your needs... Twitter Feed, News Feed, it's all RSS Feed... Live mode and Design mode? I think that suits what you require. Are you ok working with pipes? I can make a pipe public so you can clone it if you like. Nothing special, but it does the job.
