Is my download missing files?

Is the "files" folder supposed to be empty in the BT-server v2.1.7 zip file or is something wrong with my copy? Thanks!

I couldn't say what happens in the beginning. But, now that I have projects in my server I have files, directories, etcetera. It's where the server keeps the files 'you' create. It may not having anything in to begin with. BT server v2.1.7 Cheers! -- Smug

Thanks all. I had some problems with my install. Once it told me that my server login info was correct, I couldn't get any further. I can't install any plugins, either by FTP or HTML upload from the admin screen. I get the message "The file archive uploaded OK but it could not be saved to the file system?"

I guess you need to change the permissions on the /files folder to 755 in your server. Hope this helps.

Already tried 755 and 777. No good.

Hi @nosheep, When you download the BT Server package, the 'files' folder is empty. You may see a '.DS_Store' folder there, but it's not required, and only exists because @David compresses the files on a Mac! You can safely delete any .DS_Store folders you find. With regards to your current problem, did you follow the install PDF exactly as written? If that's the case, let me know, and we can proceed with trying to figure out what's going on. You could always try a fresh install. Mark

To the best of my knowledge, I followed instructions exactly. This is the 3rd fresh install (downloading the .zip file twice). I removed all files, database, and database user. I then recreated the database with same username/password and tried again. The problem comes in when I move to the page after the one with the checkmark in the red box. I get a "Permission Denied" error. I've chmoded the BT-server/files directory both 755 and 777 without any luck. I'm a web developer full-time, so I'm confident with FTP, permissions, etc, but I can't figure it out. Scratching my head over this one... Thanks for any help you may be able to give!

So, small point, but did you change the permissions of the files directory before or after you started the web-based install?

I think (but I can't recall for certain) that it was set to 755 automatically.

So I guess that the answer is "before."

It needs to be set to that for sure before. Maybe try one more time a clean install to be sure?

I'll give that a try tomorrow. The wife had me help her re-arrange the living room and I'm exhausted. Thanks!

Ok. I've deleted all of the files, database and database user again to try a fresh install. I downloaded the .zip file from here on the site and followed the instructions exactly. I still had the same problem. I contacted the hosting company and was told that there was a mod security issue and corrected it for me. I hope this helps anyone else that runs into the same problem in the future! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
