Grab Sentry - my first Android app on Google Play!

Hey guys! Please check out my first-born app on Google Play: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sillychillisoftware.grabsentry Although I wrote the app from scratch, I would like to credit buzztouch and a lot of you guys on this forum for helping my learning curve be less painful. The lessons and tips i learned here have been invaluable. Many, many thanks ! Now for the app, please check it out if you have the time and let me know what u think. It was a hard decision choosing to go the paid app way being my first app but believe it or not a lot of work and testing went into it. I even 'forced' myself to buy a new phone to use as a dev device lol ! Thanks again ! Cheers Carlos ps buzztouch rules !

Hey @CRTaylor, Great work! It looks very good! Interesting, so it detects the motion? LA

Hi @CRTaylor, the screenshots show nice graphics and the idea is interesting. If you would like us to check it out and give you a review, you might want to consider giving us access to a version we can get to without paying!

Thanks LA ! It uses the accelerometers and gravity sensors in the phone to trigger an event (alarm/text message). The trigger amount can be fine-tuned so it detects anything from picking it up from a table to having it grabbed from your hand/bag/satchel etc. Cheers, Carlos

Hi Alan Not sure how to do that with Google Play yet. I think there is some kind of licensing system that needs to be set up as apposed to a voucher system with the App Store. If anyone can help me out I'd be more than glad to make the app available ! Cheers, Carlos

Hi Carlos, don't kow how to do that with google palay either, maybe the way to distribute it is to do it privately outside google play - e.g. put the apk on a dropbox for a short while, tell the forum, then remove it after a while.

Hi Alan I also thought about that method but then it means that the file will be out there and I will have no control over who gets it/spreads it etc. Another method that came to mind was putting a time-limit/expiry date on the app. What u reckon? Cheers, Carlos

@ CRTaylor. I've only felt comfortable giving the Android version of my app away for free by refunding the purchase price in Google's merchant account. You can refund the money by clicking the patron's name and then selecting "refund some money" option in the centre of the header.

Hi Carlos, fair point on the distribution control - if it causes concern, don't do it. I don't know anything about time-expiring an app - interesting idea though. Apple give you voucher codes to hand out - if you find out that Google have useful methods, it would be good to know.

Hi Guys ! I've come up with a time-expiring version of the app so if you are still interested in giving it a try let me know. Also, do you think I should announce it more widely on this forum. I don't mind just limiting it to you guys who show interest via this thread. Cheers! Carlos
