Blank Screen/No Content in Xcode Simulator

So we overcame the errors from a couple of days ago and have successfully cleaned and built the app, but when any of the simulators (iPad and iPhone, v5.0 and v4.3) are launched there is just a white screen where the content should be. There are no "phantom buttons" - meaning clicking on where the buttons should be doesn't take you anywhere. It's just a blank white page. There are no errors being reported. I have tried... - restarting the Xcode program - clearing the DerivedData folder - checking the "home" page designation (which is set correctly) I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Xcode 4.2. Any ideas?

Hi @msta, This is usually do to the BT_Plugins folder not being dragged into your Xcode project. All the folders that you download from buzztouch should be present in your Xcode project. Here's a doc that shows how to do that: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf Hope this helps! Mark

Hi @msta, If have already taken the steps Mark and @Black White are referring to and it still doesn't work try copying and pasting the configuration data from buzztouch.com to xcode. Let me know if you need more details. Farcat

Thanks @farcat, @GoNorthWest and @Black White. All of the correct folders and files are in the project. Can you tell me more about the configuration data? How exactly do you do that?

Try and do a Project...Clean as well, before you try building again. Here's a video that shows you how to sync your config file: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp2vL1XCPC0 If none of that works, it's time for you to post output from the Debug console so we can see what's going on. Mark

@msta you are not alone my friend, I have been trying the past two days on this very thing. I get a black screen. I have added all the files as shown in the tutorials but still no luck. Does anyone know if this could be an error because of the simulator I am using or would be some other issue? Joshua

Hi Joshua, Can you show us what you see in your debug console? Also, if you'd like, you can send me your download bundle and I can run it in my simulator to see if I experience the same issues. You can just sent to MrkFleming at gmail dot com. Mark

Hi @msta, Any luck? I take it that the screen you are expecting to see when you launch is a menu button. Have you changed the background of the buttons to transparent? Could it be a white text on white background scenario? Farcat

Farid's comments made me think of another potential issue. If nothing has been configured in the Layout tab - either a Home Screen or a Tabbed Layout - then nothing will show up in the simulator. So, make sure that's configured as well. Mark

Hey, that is just weird now. I think that I have the same issue now!! I downloaded a new source code for an existing project that is already on the app Store (I just added the new menu-with-image plugin). So, I add the usual five folders to the project, place my images in the right place, copy and paste my conf file and make sure that all the Xcode settings are just the exact same as the previous project. I run the simulator and ... black screen. - The home screen is properly configured in the control panel (since it is already running on the previous version of the app). - There is no errors showing, just warnings. - If I run the previous project, it runs fine on the simulator. One thing I notice is that when I click "Run" on the Simulator, the Simulator opens and shows a black screen but the "Stop" button is greyed out. Puzzling... Farcat

@farcat, I am having a very similar issue. I am trying to keep it simple so that I can try out the app simulator because I know once I get it working one time, it should be easier after that. So I am only adding the menu to start off. I too add the five folders but once I click run and the simulator pops up, I get the black screen. The only difference is once I hit stop it shuts down the app and I get directed back to the iOS menu screen. @Mark, I have sent you an email with the bundle and a couple screenshots. I feel like a rookie asking but where is the debug console?' Joshua

Hi Joshua, Just responded to your email! We'll get this worked out for sure. Check out this doc for instructions on how to bring up the debug console window: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Problem_Reporting_and_Basic_Debug_v1.0.pdf Mark

Hi Joshua, You are in very good hands with Mark, he has helped so many before you (like myself). :) Have you been able to run your project on a real device? In my case (and my issue might be different from yours) it doesn't work on the simulator but it does work on my iphone. Hope it helps. Farcat
