Notifications

Hello All, I was wondering if BT offers a notification plugin(like a toast in Android) that can be used to notify the user that the app has been updated. Any suggestions?

Hey @Mad Padge, The consumer side does see an update when they are prompt to update and refresh when you make changes in the control panel. LA

Hey LA, I built an app using BT hosting and what I would like to do is send an update to users when lets say, a new item has been added to the app. So when they launch the app, they see the update from BT, then they see the notification about the new item. I wasn't sure if it was possible to do this within BT.

You would have to use push notifications, using parse or the new scringo. The app only checks for new code when the app resumes from idle or the refresh button is pressed, so a local notification would be pointless. You could set up a local notification to fire every month and put your new stuff in on a regular occasion.

Hello Kittsy, Thank you for the information. Are parse and scringo plugins? If so, are they only available for self hosted servers?

No they are frameworks, they can't be made into plugins really, because they add code to the app delegate files and BT Viewcontroller. There are various tutorials to integrate parse and scringo and are quite easy to achieve if you follow them step by step.
