Some of you have seen several of my previous posts about some changes and features we'll be announcing on Jan 1, 2013. I've been intentionally vague about some of the exciting new things we've been working on but couldn't resist leaking this one. We are putting the finishing touches on a way to allow you to work in your control panel in Design Mode before going "Live" with your changes. The idea is that after an app is published, and in the market, and on a bunch of devices, there is a very real chance that changes you make in your control panel will "break" the app on devices that already installed it. Bogus! The solution is easy to understand and is working well in our testing environment. And, as an added bonus, your "Live" app will refresh it's data up to 145 times faster than it does today. Today, when the Refresh button is used in a live app (that's connected to a buzztouch hosted control panel) it takes on average about 3.1 seconds to "refresh" when running on WiFi. 3G is a bit slower. The new solution does this in less than 1.5 seconds (on average) - sweet! This may seem insignificant - it's not and this feature should take some serious pain and confusion out of the equation. I'll try to save the other secrets for Jan :-)

I have just been grappling with the update process the last week. Do I put the config text on drop box or my site and then continue in the control panel? Should I create another app in the control panel for the next version? Take the app offline? What is the best way to go forward ... This proposed new functionality will be an awesome feature for the buzztouch community and possibly remove one (if any) of the BT achilles heels! Thanks David and the BT team Looking forward to it! Wow. Is this going to be a little like the original BT 1.4 site where you built it and saw the representation on the phone in real time as you build? Forget Xmas, This year it't all about Jan 1. Gator Bowl, Orange Bowl and 6 days until the BCS title game! usually I'm looking forward to a good hangover, but not with Secret Santa David about to leave some goodies under the tree.
