Creating an app for students

Hi, This is completely new to me but I thought Id give it a go. I'd like to create an app for my students in Mathematics that is linked to our curriculum. Am I using the correct website in relation to such a task?

Hi! Welcome to Buzztouch! Yep you're at the right place. There are several users who have developed Mathematics apps and started with no experience. Check out this recent post of a successful developer! http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?fid=FB2421546DEA4EA98B1B8CC&tid=FB2421546DEA4EA98B1B8CC If you click the first posters name, you will see the apps that they developed! Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions if you get stuck :)

Depends on what you'd like to do. For reference apps, its a great choice. Super easy. For other cases, it depends on what you want done. The Buzztouch platform can be very helpful in all sorts of apps. Let us know what you want to do more and checkout the websites created with buzztouch by others...

Hi @Mimrose, Welcome to buzztouch! The buzztouch platform is a natural fit for designing educational apps, and tons have done that. Give some details on what you'd like to get done, and you'll be amazed at how much help you get! Mark

Welcome Mlmrose. As an educator you will love buzztouch. A bit of learning curve but you will catch on and there is a tremendous amount of help! One of our founders of Women of Buzztouch Alfrea aka Andrea is a high school teacher and the school received a grant in the United States to help the classroom develop applications. You can find more women of buzztouch and their supporters here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Women-Of-Buzztouch/411488355584513 If you need any help just ask! Congrats on your new adventure! Sheri

I am planning to develop it for years 5/6 ( in Aus that is 11 and 12 years old). I'd really like to involve my students in the process. Primarily it would be on fractions and decimals. Thanks for all the supporting comments, very much appreciated.

I think you might benefit a lot from jQuery Mobile in easily creating neat html files for documentation or images and transitions you might have. Kind of like flash cards using images. Let us know maybe we can link you to some easy to use templates.

Mimrose: JQuery Mobile would be probably your easiest and quickest route into displaying all the custom content you might need in your app for your students. It just needs you to understand a minimum bit of HTML. With the easy tutorial clip and template I have linked to you can get off to a very good start. This video is actually made by Adobe: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/creating-for-mobile-and-tablets/creating-a-mobile-specific-website/ Of course this is especially powerful when used with the Buzztouch system. You can create a HTML Document screen or a CustomURL screen and set it to display your special document made from this template. Easy as 1, 2, 3... Let me know how it goes for you, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
