Emulator taking forever to start up

So I've been sitting here for the past 20 minuets waiting for my emulator to start working...It just sits like it's in a boot loop. I'm using ADT and the emulator is set to api 8. Anything I'm doing wrong? Could it be that the computer I'm using just isn't powerful enough? Thanks in advance!

Yeah Android Emulator can take a long time to load. What is your computer your running? maybe try to restart whole computer see if that helps? Eclipse can be really funky for sure!

Yip, true story. I've built iPhone apps in the time it takes for Eclipse Emulator to fire up.

@ianjames theres also a way to increase it's memory, but I don't remember exactly how, think that may be the issue. David https://buzztouchmods.com

Yes, its because your pc is not powerful enough. It should normally take only upto 4-5 minutes to start up when the emulator launches for the first time. There is an option to create a snapshot of your emulator when creating a new emulator device. If you select this option then it only takes few seconds to start the emulator. You seem to have already set up an emulator device but you can edit the settings in the avd manager to take snapshot of the emulator. In eclipse go to AVD Manager--> select the emulator you want to edit and click edit button. In the pop up window tick snapshot option.

Same problem here when I use my old pc running XP and if my pc can, I'm sure your computer has power enough... I think the snapshot tip of Sandeep will help a lot... anyway, try to use an AVD the smaller you can, I mean the ones from the bottom of the list, without SD card option an in a minimum resolution configuration, just to known if you are waiting or in an error loop, because I assume you don't have an error message in the pop up window that shows the progress, like: 'can't open config.ini file' or something like that, have you?
