Compiling for the app store without an apple

Hi, Bit of a daft question - but can you think of options to get my buzztouch application ready for the app store without access to a mac/macbook/etc.. Would my local retail Apple store help me "borrow one" in store for the afternoon. Do local libraries have them to use? (I'm in the UK) Are there services online where I can post them the source and get back a compiled app ? As you may have guessed I'm a newbie and looking at cheap solutions to my problem.. p.s. My Android app works like a dream and very happy with the buzztouch method :) thankyou

Hi @Wibbaboo, Welcome to buzztouch! As I'm sure you've noticed, nothing is cheap with Apple, and app development is no exception. In order to compile and sign your app, you have to join the Apple Developer Program at $99/yr, and you need to pay each year you want your apps to remain active. So, at the very least, you're looking at that expense. There's really no viable, cheap alternative to getting a Mac mini or something and running Xcode there. I would be super surprised if an Apple store would let you borrow one. And since you have to put all your certificates on the machine, that's probably not a good thing either. Some people will tell you to set up Mac OS X under VMware, but that's a violation of the Terms of Service for Xcode. It probably works, but it's against Apple's rules. There are some services, like the old MacInCloud.com, which allows you to rent a Mac. Not sure if those are still around. So, no real easy answer to cheap Mac development unfortunately! Mark
