Trying to make an update to my app without changing the live version...

I have a quiz app that is doing quite well. I would like to make an update to it to include updating it from a 1.4 to a 2.0 thus changing the menu types and buttons etc. Is it possible for me to start a new 2.0 app, somehow copy the exsisiting questions over and once complete with all of the changes somehow submit the new app as an update to take the place of the exsisiting live IOS app?

I agree with @Auggnet...I don't think you can easily make an update from 1.4 to 2.0. I think you need to submit it as a new app, and then just disable the old app at the store. The, perhaps, put a splash screen on the old app telling people to uninstall, and then install the new one. USA Today did that when they updated their app. Kinda irked me, but I got over it quickly. @stobe has a sweet tool for generating quiz JSON. Check out his idevdepot.com website. Mark

You can for sure use the new 2.0 app as an update to your existing app. I'm not talking about the copying questions or anything, pretty sure you'll have to build your 2.0 app from scratch. But once you have the app you want and are ready to submit to the app store...use the same bundle ID you used for the original app and submit the update. The old bundle ID has to match the new binary you submit as an update. As far as copying the questions from the old app, GoNorthWest recommended a very powerful tool which may be helpful.
