I Wish...

I wish I could update the docs and images in my apps using my control panel after they've been published. "But you can!", you say. No, what I want to do is push new data to become resident on the device so it doesn't have to be fetched and cached. Lets say I have a file called doc.pdf in the docs folder when I publish. I want to be able to change the doc.pdf file then push it to the device so it replaces the original doc.pdf. Pointing to a URL isn't sufficient, the app has to be able to access all the data, all the time, with or without a connection. Many apps do this... Of course this all wouldn't be an issue if Apple could approve updates faster, say in a day instead of a week. Grr.

Your wish can come true if you check out iCloud integration, that is one of Apples answers to do exactly what you want. I've been tinkering with it a little myself to deal with PDF files for similar reasons. If/when I find some Android equiv, then I might get serious with using it in an app. reading up on Google Drive to see if that is the solution...

You could always push over the air notification that there had been an update. Then you could still use url and cache.

Holy crap! So I sort of slam Apple about how slow they are to approve apps... I submitted the app update this morning, it's in review! I almost apologize for the slow comment. Almost.

Ok, I'm sorry Apple for ever saying or implying anything derogatory about your fine company or it's class leading products. "In review" for over 24 hours now.... pretty preeeeeeeeze!
