Can I duplicate an app and amend rather than starting from scratch?

I've recently got my first app live in the iTunes store (see 'App store approvals and thank yous') and now want to complete the Android version. Downloading the version for iOS to Eclipse gives some errors and I don't want to mess up the iOS version so can I duplicate it as a starting point and then work through the errors for Android or does every app have to start from scratch?
