Graphics + buzztouch Wow!

My Coffee App (CoffeeBook) So I was looking at my bland menu: https://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/Old.png I thought: Apple = creative company, so my app should be creative. So I took my graphic knowledge from designing websites. And I made this: 1) https://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/Two%20Menu.png (This is the same menu) 2) https://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/One%20Menu.png (same menu) 3) https://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/Icon.png - App icon, this was actually a lucky find on google images! 4) https://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/List.png> (recipe list) What do you think? I feel so proud of myself *smile of glee* Munny1

@Navy Yeah, I know what you mean about the small icon. The problem is that you can't actually see the words in the pic with a small icon. I tried out this setup in simulator, it is pretty good, so hopefully it shouldn't be an issue. But if Apple or users (when published) say something, I'll have to rethink. I think right now they are pretty good though. Thanks for the input! Munny1

Looks good - you have some good graphic design abilities there! Just be careful about taking images from Google Image search - all kinds of copyright infringement issues there to worry about.

@Chris Thanks! I tried to be careful about the pictures I took. They were (not) all from free vector sites. Thanks for the heads up! ICON: http://www.joyoge.com/listing/abstract-coffee-card-free-vector-download-graphics LATTE: http://www.allyou.com/budget-home/money-shopping/get-free-stuff-00411000068606/page2.html (copyright this site - I have to change that) CAPPUCCINO: http://unpics.com/get/26290/ QUIZ: Forgot where I got that from (will have to search or fix) @Chris thanks a lot for the heads up. I will fix those copyright errors. Thanks!

You have to go into your BT screens, choose the menu buttons screen that the issue is occurring in. Click on each of the buttons you have. Make sure the image is in the URL not FILE, not BOTH. If you only put file, you have to include the file in Xcode/eclipse. If you do only url, then that is it - all done!

@Navybrandon08- All the images referred in respect of apps go in res-->drawable folder for android projects. But be careful while naming the image files coz eclipse does not understand capital letters and some characters. So to avoid confusion always use small case letters for image files like icon.png or for large image icon_lg.png

@munny1- The icons definitely look awesome but i too agree with what Navybrandon08 says about icon size. If you want your users to see the words of the button instead of using those word in the pic itself try adding text below the button. That would look better.

@sandeep putting the text below the button is the reason I did the graphic. I am definitely going to have to change the size, since a lot of people are talking about it. I will repost with the picture (I am thinking the same thing but with two icons per row). Cappuccino is too large to come under the graphic. The old menu that I had was not updated. To fit cappuccino, I had to make the icons huge and the font tiny (obviously this is ugly). Also, even with this setup, the retina displays cannot handle cappuccino. So, I think that I will keep the graphic but with two icons per row. I will repost with photo. What do you think? Thanks a lot for the input! Munny1

The new menu really looks cool. Also it is big enough so that the letters are easily readable. BTW which font did you use? I like the sparkel effect behind the letters. Is it font effect or did you put that effect yourself?

I used photoshop. If you want, I can send you the psd file. I used Microsoft Sans Serif with a gradient outline (black to white) and gradient fill (black to grey). The text also has an outer glow (0 spread, play around with size). I have a folder that is set to color dodge. Under that folder is a brush with jitter and glow presets (play around with this). Another layer in the folder is an eclipse shape around the text. The text is above all of the layers and folders. A layer (color dodge) that is right below the text has clouds set multiple times. .... It's a multistep process!
