First App Approval

Dear ones I'm so glad to announce my first app approved! It's an app about a Research Unit on Alcohol and Drug Dependence here in Brazil. I'm so lucky to have discovered BT (and also BuzzTouchMods, thanks, Mr David for all kindness with all my doubts). All the forums have been so valuable to me, and it's incredible how much I've learned during all this process with my first app. And despite being so new here, I've noticed that BT itself has changed a lot and become much more powerful and comprehensive during these last months. Every week we have new plugins, wonderful discussions in the forums and also a brilliant Stobe's podcast. I'm so happy to be part of this family! I would highly appreciate any comment or review on how to improve this app in a next version. Here's the link for my first app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/uniad/id577509621?l=pt&ls=1&mt=8 Kind regards for all, DryFrog

Congrats!!! The app seems informative but i am skipping the download due to lack of knowledge of Portugest language. @Navybrandon08- Same thing here mate. I did not struggle with android at all. But i am having a lot of bumps understanding ios. Its been 3 months now since i purchased Macbook Pro, but still i have not released a single app on app store.

@Sheri, @munny: Thank you so much for your comments. @Navy and @Sandeep: here are some tips, from my point of view, if you allow me: 1. Stick with the simple. Many times I've felt inclined to try something more complicated, but it only took me time. BT has a lot of functionality and resources and we will hardly need anything more than what is available. So, we'd better spend our time in mocking up, designing and preparing contents. 2. Stick with the simple II: cut any screen that seems confusing, difficult to implement. I would suggest the same regarding to design. Start from the basic. I've cut Allow GPS because it was not necessary and it was causing my app to crash many times. I know it is possible to fix it, but it would only take me much time and it was not really essential for my app... So, look carefully at all your screens, one by one and ask yourself: is it really essential? 3. Choose your color scheme. I'd suggest to download a simple app (free) like Color Scheme, take your time to choose a color scheme that you like (remember - it must matches the nature and subject of your app). Grab a screen picture from your iPhone, iPad or Android and write down all the hex color (like #ff8000, #ffffff and so on...). You can save it to your color pallet or use a better color picker like this: http://panic.com/~wade/picker/ (free). 4. Icons: I'd suggest you to use a software called... guess what? Icons. It saved me a lot of time creating the iOS icons all at once, including iTunes artwork. You can use some .psd files for icon creation (the best one I've found was this: http://graphicriver.net/item/app-icon-creator/1605190 ). Unfortunately, it will only work on Photoshop 4 or superior, but there are a lot of good ones in graphicriver.net . 5. Don't have Photoshop? What about Pixelmator or Sketch for Mac? 6. I would recommend you to download my app as well as many apps recently approved. Take your time to navigate on all screens. Criticize, collaborate. Imagine what would be interesting in your app. I was just about to send my app to AppStore but a friend of mine told me it looked a little bit "sad" in his eyes. So, I've navigated to BT Forum and downloaded a App (8A Aluminun, not sure if the app's name is correct). It was much more subtle and nice in the eyes. So, I've got inspired. 7. In my app, I preferred to hide the status bar, as it would give me some extra space and make the navigation experience more engaging (starting from the splash screen). I suggest you to look at all of your screens and ask yourself: Do I (really) need the navbar? Do I (really) need the status bar? Do I need (really) the tab bar? Try hiding and showing, as you will only have all those answers if you try... 8. Read carefully the forum App Rejections. It is, probably, the most important one in all BT forum. But read it in a "easy" way, don't be scared. And keep trying, learning, studying. Sometimes it is really confusing but we need to keep going. Yesterday, I've read one of my notes (a mind map from 124 days ago) and I've laughed because I was sure that I wouldn't use buzz touch. Now, the only truth I know about app development is that we are all in the right way, in the right family. Believe me: the sensation of having an app approved is very difficult to explain. It's a king of magic. Thanks again, DryFrog

@munny1- Cant believe it. BTW whats taking you so long? @DryFrog- Wow! Thanks for the instructions. It is really informative and i appreciate that you shared those tips with all of us. I have been using bt since February of this year and i have released over 20 apps on Google Play (few are discontinued as the purpose ended). Some apps are basic while some are manipulated by custom coding. BT is really a cool tool to create apps but sometimes we need custom coding to incorporate the features we want in some of our apps. Android was like a piece of cake for me in custom coding but ios seems a bit alien for me.
