WordPress question...

Ok so I finally think I have found a great Word Press plugin that will work for my blog/app and its called "site layout customizer". It simply says: To show this layout, paste this shortcode on a page or post: [layout show="1"] now I put it in a post in the HTML and it looks great, if I wanted to put this code into my blogs "page" so that all of my blog posts use this, does anyone know where I would paste this code?

If you go into "Appearance", and then "Editor", you will find all the files that make up your site's template. Find the one you want (header, body, etc) and put your code in there.

Some templates vary, but you can try "single.php" if you want it to show up in every blog post.

You will need to use the "do shortcode" tag if you want to add it to the template: <?php echo do_shortcode("[example_shortcode]"); ?> Geraldine

So what I'm looking to do is use this code to replace the way my posts look.... Instead of having a post that is lengthy I'm looking to use this short code to show a thumbnail pic of the post along with the posts description, when the reader clicks on the thumbnail or description then it takes them to the full story... The way it turned out when I added this code to a post was the entire story was there and at the bottom there was my cool new thumbnail pic and description... If you could take a look at my site here: http://www.teamcaz.net/ You will see what I'm talking about... Basically I'd like the thing at the bottom to replace the full story... And this plugin does just that, I just don't know where to put that short code.. Thank you!

I had a look at the plugin and what it does is to show posts on a page in a layout of your choice. It doesn't appear to be for making the individual posts look like the layout you want. What you are looking for can be done by customizing the theme or finding a theme that already uses this layout for the posts. Geraldine

Hi @teamcaz, If your wanting like a few lines or a summary of a particular post, then you have to use the "Quicktag" code. Here is a link, hope this helps. http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Layout_and_Design#How_do_I_show_an_excerpt.2C_teaser.2C_or_summary.2C_for_an_article_on_the_site_homepage.3F LA

Ok I give!!!!! I'm so frustrated, I am looking to have a blog on my app (I have been using word press), but all I am looking to do is ave a the ability to have a small thumbnail preview picture of the post and the title of the post, when a user wants to click into read the post then they get taken to the full story... I have spent hours looking for plugins that will do this, and different themes.... I cant get anything to work, anybody know of a simple solution besides giving up :) Thanks

Not really... could I ask you to check out my site here: http://www.teamcaz.net as you will see there is an initial picture, then a cool looking thumbnail picture and basic description of the post, and then finally more of the post to read. What I am looking for is to have the cool looking thumbnail and preview text and thats all... so basically my blog will be a bunch of different cool little thumbnails and the preview text for each to click on if you want to read more... is there any way to set my blog up to do that? I think that the plugin that I trying to work with: site layout customizer, will work (in fact that is what I am using to create the cool little thumbnail and preview text) but for some reason it ads the rest of the crap that you see there...

Have a look at WP touch - it converts your site into a mobile friendly site. Might do what you want. Geraldine
