White text in html/text plugin problem

Hi! I am a newbie, so maybe my problem is easy to fix. I am working with text screens mainly, and in my app I need many of them with black background and white text. As it is much easier, I am creating the html screens, typing everything in, and I had planned to change the settings to white colored text and black background once I had all the info written. Today I started to change the settings, and I am having problems. All I do is select all the text in the html/text screen, I choose the color of the text and change it to white, I set a black color for the background and save. When I run the project in xCode, the screen shows a rectangle in black and inside another rectangle with lines all white, but no characters. Can you please help?.

Welcome to Buzztouch @Manicomio, what you want to do should be quite do-able. I don't recognise the problem, so let me ask a couple of questions :- 1) Have you ever had the project running successfully with the simulator in Xcode? 2) Was everything OK before you started to change the foregorund and background colours? 3) Did you set the background in the advanced settings of the html/text plug-in or did you set it in html? (this should not make any real difference, I am just interested).

Hi Alan, Thanks for your response, the answers are: 1.- Yes, the project's been running perfect and text is readable while it was set as white background and black text color. 2.- Yes, everything ok. 3.- I set it out in the advanced settings, not using html.

Ok, @Manicomio, none of this explains what you are seeing, but displaying basic html is usually OK! Here are a couple of suggestions. 1) Make sure you do not have a background image set in the html pages or in the global theme. 2) Go to the global theme and set the background colour to black in there 3) Use the colour picker to set the colour (just to make sure it isn't a syntax error) 4) If all these fail (they shouldn't), create a new page and type the black text in a normal background. Check that it works OK. Do not use any advanced settings. Click source. Copy the content. Uee a simple or even a free html editor (like Kompozer) and paste the source into that as source code. Then in normal mode, set the colours and background in html. Paste the source of that back into the source on the online html editor and try that.

If I create a new page, everything works fine, when I set the black background from the beggining. The problem I see is that I don't know if this is going to happen all the time. See, I have to write a lot of info on the html/text screens, so I do it step by step, and setting white background and black text. If I set black background, it doesn't change in the buzztouch editor, but the text of the color does, so I can't see what I am writing. That is why I change the background and text color once I finish typing everything. Don't worry, what I will do is write it in word, and then pass it to the screen once it is finished. But it might be a good idea to make the background of the editor change once you change it in the advanced options, so you can actually see the text you write if you are doing it in white. Thanks for your help.

The built in editor is OK, but quite limited, but you can paste html into it as source, that is the key. Sounds like you have a process, that is to produce clean html and paste it into the screen when you are finished. That will work. However, I strongly advise that you do *not* use Word though. It has a reputation of producing lots of extra formatting codes that results in bad html. Google for KompoZer, it is free and will do the job you need (much better than Word for this type of work). Good luck
